6 volt LED taillights for P15 now available

The Technostalgia company has been making 12V LED taillights for the 46-48 Plymouths for quite

a while now.  I see that in our forum Parts For Sale section they have an ad stating they are now

making a 6 volt version.  Which is a good thing, of course, for those who don't wish to change to

12V.  The lense and bezel come together.  Price for a pair including gasket is $114.95

Probably same deal as with their earlier lights......you can't just use bezel or lense separately.

Bob,

Figure what they're charging to fish a lens and bezel out of "the bay" and it would seem the LED light circuitry is almost free.  I'm not needing any of it but thanks for posting.

So, these look like a good safety enhancement for me...and not a bad price, either...provided I can easily wire the center stop light into them. Anyone have an idea of how easy that would be...

I emailed the company and the lights are three wire: ground, stop/turn and tail light. Is it just a matter of running wiring from the center stop light to the stop/turn lead? Or are there more changes required?

If you don't have turn signals, then yes, it should just be a matter of running a wire from the center stop to the stop/turn lead.

If you have turn signals, then there is a little more work and wiring.

Randy..at the swap meet yesterday one could get some generic large size diode plates to fit behind the lenses of a number of light assemblies for about 8.00 to 16.00 according to size..all the dash and side marker lights are now in various diode design with multiple colors available from about 2-5 bucks a pop..

further..for those popular tear drops, round, oval and rectangular lenses..famous to a certain variety of 40/50 cars..they can now be had in original housings that fit the original openings or you can get them in flush fit and only a small hole for the wire needed to be placed in the panel

they have come a long way..these flush mounts started at 39.00 a pair with stainless bezels to about 79.00 with one maybe 89.00..usually about 30.00 less than the housed model per set of same light..the bezels on on both style

Yes...I do have turn signals already...two filament bulbs in the tail lights but no connection to the center stop light.

I do not have turn lights so wiring the third light in so all work as brake and running lights was easy for me. I believe the instructions that come with the lights explain everything.

After reading the instructions above what do you think TJM.  I've owned my 48 Plymouth for almost 45 years and my head is still spining.

I bought my turn-signal-switch about 15 years ago.  The switch body itself has a input for the brake wire.  The three outputs are: tail light, right brake/turn signal, and left brake/turn signal.  I also don't have a center brake light, because if I use one from the turn signal switch it would flash.  I didn't turn the center light into a tail light because drivers are confused enouch without me adding to their confusion.  While the interior is being redone this year I was going to make a new wiring harness from the dashboard back.  My idea is to tap into the brake wire before the turn-signal-switch and run a seperate line to the center light.

I think it looks pretty straight forward...I am pretty sure I get the hookup...I have been thinking of trying to wire the stop circuit to the flasher filament for a while but never put too much thought into it. I like that these will have a better body ground than the clips I have now...bright lights for stopping where people expect to see them seems like a very smart idea. Plus, my pot metal is all crappy looking. This, I assume, is plastic...but it looks pretty genuine to me. Since I have not got a show car, I think it's a good upgrade.

From what the directions look like, there is a separate stop / turn function...unlike with the 2 element bulbs...apparently the light can tell whether to flash or not based on which circuit is activated...my car is in a winter garage, so I can't look to see what's going on in there just now...nor can I remember exactly.

This is a question I've read up on a couple times on the forum but always thought I'd end up with something blinking when I didn't want it to blink, so I didn't mess with it. It seems like these lights might be engineered with the idea of giving us stop lamps in the taillights plus the turn signal and tal light.
