CKHughes Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 Who has the best glass rubber at the best price? Should I go with Roberts? for 1948 B1B. Quote
DollyDodge Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 my two cents is Steele, it is the most expensive, but I believe it is the best. This is one case where I think one gets what they pay for. Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 I believe it was forum member Vanbuskirk (47P-15 woody) who once said he will use nothing other than Steel rubber on his woody. Quote
Jim Shepard Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 I used Steele and it looks nice and went in very easily. Quote
brian hood Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 Stay away from Roberts. My molding did not fit right. I was told by my glass man that it was off by 3/4 inch from the bottom. I had to get new glass cut and hope that it streches enough or new rubber. I would try Steele Rubber. I was almost two years after I bought the gaskets that I tried to have them installed. I did not try to contact Roberts since I had long ago lost my receipt. He might have made it right with me I dont really know. Brian Quote
Young Ed Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 rubber on his woody. Don watch your mouth! Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 Don watch your mouth! Common Young Edward! Warnt my mouth, were my fingers making a quote. Seems you were the only one who got it... Quote
B1B Keven Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 Common Young Edward! Warnt my mouth, were my fingers making a quote. Seems you were the only one who got it... Nope. I just spit sweet tea all over my keyboard! Quote
TheMoose Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 The quarter window rubber on my 53 is from Roberts & does not fit well, I thought it had been installed wrong but glass shop guy said it was installed right. I'd like to hear/see how well the Steele rubber fits to see if it'd be worth replacing mine. Quote
David A. Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 I used Steel rubber exclusively on my 38 Buick I restored about 12 years ago. It has been kept inside, but it still looks as new as when I first installed it. I have used other companies rubber products on previous restorations, and had them deteriorate pretty quickly... Weather checking etc. Steel is kind of expensive, but it seems to be very good quality. Quote
wallytoo Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 Common Young Edward! Warnt my mouth, were my fingers making a quote. Seems you were the only one who got it... it wood appear that vanbuskirk was the one getting it. Quote
Monkey Truck Posted December 18, 2012 Report Posted December 18, 2012 I used Steele for all my windows, just installed them 6 months ago. They are expensive, but fit like a glove. Highly recommend. Quote
Tom Skinner Posted December 18, 2012 Report Posted December 18, 2012 Ditto, Steele is expensive but far and away the best. In things such as this (the hassle) of this type of work, I am talking about risking scratching glass or breaking it, don't go second class. When your done you will see the wisdom of our advice. By the way use nylon coaxing tools/pry tools so as not to scratch paint, glass etc. Tom Quote
