It was a beautiful day today so I took the '38 Chrysler for a run and since it was so nice I drove barefoot which is illegal in Alberta but you only live once! I stopped at one of my favourite locations because I can sit my camera on a fence post and take pictures of me and my cars. I also like it because it's out in the country and not too far from where I live in town. Took the '38 today and I have included a couple more shots. Took the '53 Plymouth in April and the '48 Dodge in January. Lots of fun with the old Mopars. It's interesting to see the difference in the fields and the clothing I am wearing. Now all I have to do is find a nice early 40's Desoto to complete my DPCD collection.

Dave, yes I have the "wood" trim inside. Pictures show before and after condition of the dash. You have a very nice looking '38 Dodge in your profile. I actually bought my '38 Chrysler as a parts car for a '38 Dodge I had but decided to do the Chrysler instead and sold the Dodge many years ago.

I've never understood the driving barefoot = illegal. I always heard that here. Figured it must be an urban legend. Whenever I'm wearing flip flops, I always slip them off.

Love the cars.

I'm partial to coupes myself. However, I really like the looks of that 53. Nice looking car.

As for barefoot driving, it's illegal here, Illinios and Kentucky that I know of. Makes no difference to me. Only time I'm barefoot is in the shower and in bed. Any other time, have to have shoes on. My bare feet don't even hit the floor when getting out of the shower. Dry them off in the shower, then step out into a pair of house shoes. Never could walk barefooted. Can't wear my shoes without socks like a lot of people do either.

Norm , sounds like a fobia?

I walk barefoot whenever I can, come home from work , kick off the shoes.

Takes a bit of getting acustomed to, gravel is still a bit of a pickle...weighing 220 the pressure is too high for my sensitive soles :)

Asphalt is another danger zone here, when it heats up you I can't stand on it.

My boys had no problem walking on gravel of even play soccer on asphalt barefooted.

Boy do I remember going barefoot as a child..plenty of cuts, stubbed toes, stepping on honey bees in clover...we were tough little knockers back then..I be a tenderfoot now..I only run aout the house now in bare beet..usually in my socks indoors.

John, I have always understood that it is illegal to drive barefoot where I live but I have never seen the law or heard it stated as absolute truth. Maybe it is an urban legend but I am going to find out. Can't really understand why it would be illegal as certain types of footwear would have to be more dangerous such as flip-flops and high heels.

Looks like I'm not the rebel I thought I was. Seems it is legal to drive barefooted in Alberta according to the site Tim posted and a couple of others I found. Now I gotta find something else that is just slightly illegal. How about pulling out the throttle control and putting my barefeet up on the comfortable front seat as I cruise down traffic free rural roads?

Only time I wear shoes is when I have to. What are socks?

I blew out my flip-flops in Margaritivelle. Lisa and I went there as soon as we got home today. Nice way to cool off after a nice drive in my car.

Don...one thing for certain..you would not want to be near me if I:

Wear color socks...and if I wear shoes and no socks...

I be one of them people that have reactions to dyes...socks or shoes...must wear white...even after labor day...

Nice cars, Robert. I really like the classy lookin' grille on the Chrysler :)

You should try to get a shot of a car in that spot in December or January...prolly have to bend over to put the camera on top of the fencepost!!!!

My Chrysler spent from 1969 to 2003 lounging in the Lethbridge sun until I rescued it. Nice part is that the rust was baked to a halt.

It's illegal to drive barefoot here in Indiana too. No one could tell me why, but I think it might be that a long time ago, when the law was written, many cars had metal pedals with no rubber pads. If they got hot while driving, you would have been hesitant to use the brakes. Just a wild idea.

Great minds think alike. I'm at this very moment experimenting in search of the perfect carb-free Margarita. I sense that I'm getting close...

(CA health culture and all that)...

A real margarita is pretty low in carbs. I'm not a drinker but I've been told I make the best mixed drinks. Probably tell me that to be nice, though.

1 part lime juice (key limes if you have them)

1 part orange liqueur or triple-sec

1-2 parts tequila

Shake it with crushed ice and pour into a glass with kosher salt on the rim. Triple-sec is the only carbs, but it doesn't have too much.
