michaeljohncourtney Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 Hello all, I've been a silent member for a while...and I wanted to introduce myself. As I'm getting into the restoration of one of my bone stock business coupes I have wanted to reach out and share and maybe also connect with local members. I included some photos. I'm currently doing some work on my black 1947 D24 biz coupe - having some dents taken out of my rear fenders, trying to get my fuel gauge to work, putting in a new exhaust (anybody have advice on a more simple exhaust option than the stock one?) thanks guys, Michael Courtney Quote
Don Coatney Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 Are you the same Michael Courtney who last posted here in 2008? If so welcome back. Nice looking cars! Quote
RobertKB Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 Welcome to the forum. Those are two beautiful business coupes. I personally like to see them kept original as you have done! Quote
deathbound Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 They look great, it doesn't look like they need much more work. I'm in Long Beach & have hooked up with another member nearby, I'm sure there are others. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 Nice cars---welcome. Regarding your exhaust question - not sure there is anything more simple. Quote
michaeljohncourtney Posted November 14, 2012 Author Report Posted November 14, 2012 Thank you for the welcomes gentelmen ...yes, That was me in 2008 Mr.Coatney...maybe you remember because we have similar last names? Just for the record, I am keeping my coupes stock - with a few upgrades - a tach, a vacuum pressure meter, some vintage fog lights, a stereo in the glove box, leather interior on one of them, and I'm fitting the rear bumper in my black 47 closer to the vehicle by 4 inches.(I like how these look without the rear bumper but I can't go that far) I'm putting in new vent window rubber now too. Robert Horne Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 Very nice cars. Do you have a closer photo of your tach? I put a marine type tach in my 38 Coupe. I like the white, or near white, face gauges, easy to read at a glance, at 3000 rpm....., . Quote
Mark D Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 Love both of your cars. Are they daily drivers or just hobby cars? Quote
michaeljohncourtney Posted November 15, 2012 Author Report Posted November 15, 2012 Very nice cars. Do you have a closer photo of your tach? I put a marine type tach in my 38 Coupe. I like the white, or near white, face gauges, easy to read at a glance, at 3000 rpm....., . I bought a black faced one...it a vintage one I picked up at the Long Beach swap meet last weekend. I'm hooking it up next week and I'll take some pictures of it. Quote
michaeljohncourtney Posted November 15, 2012 Author Report Posted November 15, 2012 Love both of your cars. Are they daily drivers or just hobby cars? I don't drive the dark blue 1946 one "Sluggo" much but The black one "Bruno" the 1947 gets driven the most, It has 77K orig miles on it now. I like driving it better because it is geared differently. It will do 65 on the freeway, but "Sluggo" will reluctantly push 50mph. Quote
fstfish66 Posted November 22, 2012 Report Posted November 22, 2012 very nice, having 1 3 window is kool 2 is just off the hook Quote
