Robert Smith Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 Say, those are rare! I can't say that I've seen a late 40s Dodge convertible before. They are rather rare. I do see p-15 convertibles, and other 30s-40s Plymouth convertibles… An occasional Chrysler convertible but, not many DeSoto and Dodge convertibles. All fixed up those could be a lot of fun, and very handsome! :-) Are they for sale? Quote
old-idaho-iron Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 Robert the Desoto is not my car, but it is for sale 4 g's I believe, it's in Lehi Utah.. Quote
Robert Smith Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 $4K for the DeSoto? And it's in Lehi Utah? I know a guy who's looking for a convertible... Not sure how ambitious he is but, he may be interested. Thanks! Quote
wayfarerstranger Posted August 24, 2012 Author Report Posted August 24, 2012 the dodge would be around 8500.00 Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 I've lived in Joplin since 1968 and have only ever seen one D24 convertible here. It was owned by an older lady just south of town.....sat in an old garage building at her house. I inquired when I first saw it.....but not for sale. Was yellow - and getting run down by then. Then the lady moved a few miles west over into Kansas....took the car with her. Not sure how things went, but ultimately an older fellow from the area ended up being able to puchase the car several years later. I missed it by not being persistent and staying in contact with the lady. Of course, the guy who bought it just re-sold it to make a buck. I would have kept it as a companion to the Plymouth. I'm sure the DeSoto convert is even more rare than the Dodge. Even the Plymouth ragtop was kinda rare when new.....just a bit over 15,000 of them built during the P15 model run. Quote
Captain Bucket Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 Saw this in a nearby town, said DeSoto on the bumper. It looked nice Quote
Young Ed Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 I see this one at a car show occasionally. Same guy also has a very nice original 51 plymouth convert. Quote
