I had a great time with the widows and widowers benifit car show at a local Church this week end. I had a great time with the old ladies and their nasty stories about the front seat and the back seat of the Bus. coupes in their time. These chicks were off the hook. Won big trophy to boot not a bad weekend.

After the info about the ladies, I am glad you have a picture of your "trophy".

Nowing Rodney a bit it makes me wonder if the trophy was won on his stories about the ladies and not his car:rolleyes:

Congrats either wayicon14.gif

Hi all, thanks for all the comments. The color is not period correct however I love it. I saw it in a Dupount color book and had to use it. It has alot of metalic in it. When the sun is bright it looks like heaven.

Those Chicks made me feel real unconfortible as I said they were widows and they were talking about the 40's and 50's when he war was over and their men came back from the war, just nasty:cool: One lady if she was 30 years younger.....well that's another story. She was so sweet:DI need to stay away from that kind of person. I really liked her.....alot. I hink next year I wilkl drive the 41 Stude That should draw a whole different reaction

I did my interior over so there is no evidence of the pre war in my car:eek:

I once had a little lady of about 80 years old at a car show ask me if I would let her sit in my back seat. I told her to go ahead, after about 10 minutes of her sitting back there I was getting worried that I would have a permanent passenger. When she got out she said it brought back such beautiful memories of when she was a young girl and spent time in the back seat of her future husbands new car with him. Did not have to leave a lot to the imagination.

Maybe throw a sheet over the back seat with a sign that says: GET A MOTEL ROOM!

Gotta watch out for the cougars! The older the more aggressive they get!

On the up side they're very easy to please. Sorry i cannot say how i know this!!

Rodney, that color is lovely on your '40. Truth is, they did have metallic paint schemes in the mid to late 30s. And it wouldn't surprised me if someone who wanted a custom touch to their car or liked a color better, they'd have it painted. :-)

The skirts on the rear fenders look especially nice on the '40 Plymouth, the molded in creases on the fenders of that year really accent the skirts so nicely. A handsome, sharp looking coupe!

One day, I was filling up at a service station and this elderly lady walks up to my '46, and she wanted to just see the back seat... And she saw the blanket rope... She laughed and exclaimed; I used to hang on to that rope when I was a little girl when my brother and I went for drives in Dad's car. She just gazed and soaked in personal nostalgia... Brought a smile to an old woman's face. It made my day, for a young guy my self, to appreciate these cars and my appreciation for that era, knowing that the world they once knew is completely gone. For that lady to see a car of her childhood is a rare thing, especially owned by a younger man. I'm always happy to hear stories from others relating to these cars... And for the record, for some other seniors, the back seat becomes a confession booth of sorts. LoL Often we think of those days as innocent and proper... Ha! Kids will be kids!

Love our MoPar time machines! :-)

You are so right Robert, I was sitting in it last night with the interior light on looking at the News paper. Can you imagine just for a moment 1939-40 what was going on then, The world was in a real bad state. Folks were so worried about the future. That car has been though all that drama. The folks that owned it might me dead but the car lives on. Yes, I restored it and gave it some more time. 50 years from now I will be gone and hopefully some one else will do the same. It is a time machine:)

Now the old lady, as a young kid thought that time would last forever as I did in my father's 1957 ford convert. That's just the way things go. I have been looking maybe one day;)I'll get another car like my Dad's manit would be great.

Rodney, I love your coupe and the colour is very subtle without being in your face.
