Mark D Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 I can't seem to find mention with the search tool for replacement bulbs sources for Mopar fog lamps in the archives. I recently won an auction for a pair of Mopar fogs but one lamp is cracked. Has anyone had luck in finding a replacement? These bulbs are Corcoran-Brown bulbs. Alternatively, If anyone has a spare they'd like to sell, let me know. I'm also a little confused as to the need for a relay due to my amateur electrical understanding. I believe it uses lower amperage to switch higher amperage, but is the draw for the lights significantly different? Appreciate the guidance here - Mark Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 http://www.taillightking.com/fog_Driving_light-Bulbs.htm as these lamps appeared in different sizes..its hard to quess the exact one you need..this site lists a few..some are sold., some available..all a bit high... Quote
greg g Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 I have picked up a couple at swap meets so they are out there. A relay is basically and electro magnetic switch. With a relay, the lamps (or other load) beneifit from full voltage rather than incurring the resistance of running the full load through the mechanism of a toggle switch. Now if you are running just two fog lamps on a dedicated circuit through 10 gauge wire, you should not have the need for a relay, if you run a switch rated for the load, rather than a typical toggle switch. I run mine through a 20 amp rated push pull switch, pulling the power from the batteryside of the solenoid with a dedicated 10 gauge wire from power through a inline fuse, to the switch, then to the lamps. With a relay you can pick up power from say the acc terminal of the ign switch, and run 12 gauge wire through a light toggle switch to the relay to power the relay. When the relay is energized, it runs the load through the heavy contacts of the relay to the lamps. But then you need to power the other side of the relay from a heavy source like the battery or the batt side of the solenoid, with the 10 gauge wire, then to the lamps. It just depends on how you want to run the wires, and where it is handy to pick up power and if you wnat the safe gaurd of having the lamps shut off when the ign is off. I believe some simple schematics have been posted before, so they shold be searchable. Here is one that is overly complicated with a pilot light but the relay circuit is pretty clear. Quote
49roadster Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 Unity USA the company that sells spot and fog light, has bulbs. Quote
Mark D Posted August 11, 2012 Author Report Posted August 11, 2012 Thanks for the info gents. Checked Unity's site, they dont have the bulb I need. Will keep watching ebay I guess. Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 11, 2012 Report Posted August 11, 2012 Did you check on tail light king? http://www.taillightking.com/ Quote
Mark D Posted August 11, 2012 Author Report Posted August 11, 2012 Thanks Don, I didn't see any listed on his web site, but just sent an email with the photos attached. Quote
steveplym Posted August 11, 2012 Report Posted August 11, 2012 You could try Kanter. I know they sell the lamps, but the bulbs may not fit your application. http://www.kanter.com Quote
