I picked up an aftermarket bumper made from channel; it has a similar bump in the middle, but bent towards the truck, for a trailer hitch.

It would seem I've missed that there was such a thing...lol

I've never seen one first hand, and just never noticed in the pics. I thought the taller box was the big deal with these things at the time.

I have two 1952 B3B short/low box 1/2 ton's so I perk up in a conversation about them. The short/low box models (I believe only on half tons) were popular for short haul, lighter load delivery trucks like grocery, hardware, etc. where it was easier to lift boxes and merchandise over the sides and not have to drop the tailgate. Might possibly be other explanations.

Is the depth of the low beds about the same as GM and Fords of the same year? I've read that the location of the Dodge front axle allowed for a larger payload, thus the deep bed which is also 6" longer than others. (2) Is the Pilot House cab higher than GM's and Fords?

The lower bed is unique, but I prefer the deeper one. Nothing personal.
