grey beard Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 Hows 'a come I can look at a photo someone posted on this forum, like it, save it to my documents folder, and then later when I want to upload it to show someone else on this same forum, I get a message that it's too big to fly via our posting system, even though this is the very medium by which I acquired the thing? Did it swell up after I saved it to my C drive? Am I holding my mouth wrong? Deodorant . . . . . .? Any suggestions, words of wisdom? What is the typical optimum size for photo posting on this forum? Hows'a come that Don feller from Tennessee can get SEVERAL photos on one post and I can shoehorn only one in, after it has been shrunken down in Photoshop? If ignorance is really bliss, how come I'm not happier? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 It is according how it was posted on the site..if uploaded from a personal computer the size will be such to allow future reposting..if however uploaded via a URL from a hosting site like photobucket...then the picture size can really be quite large. JIPJOBXX Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 You could put it up on Yahoo Photo service and they automatically change the picel size when you send it out. Quote
Jim Saraceno Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 Many of the pictures you see on this forum are not stored here, they are actually stored someplace else (like photobucket) and just have a link stored here. You are probably downloading the actual picture and then trying to upload it rather than it's original link. If you right click on a picture, you will come up with a menu that includes properties. One of the properties is it's address, that is what is stored on this site. Quote
Normspeed Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Could also be the format you are saving the pics in. If you do a "save as", it will have a screen where you give it a name and you tell it to save as a file type such as jpg, tif, bmp, etc. Bmp (bitmap) files are usually way bigger. Try saving as a jpg. Don Coatney Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Many of the pictures you see on this forum are not stored here, they are actually stored someplace else (like photobucket) and just have a link stored here. . That is exactly why I can post multiple pictures. All photos I post are stored in my Photobucket account and linked to this forum. When I save photos posted here on this forum I will add them to my bucket album before I re-post them. Quote
