Don Coatney Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 I cannot believe nobody even bid on this Phantom General Lee:rolleyes: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=007&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=170105188047&rd=1,1 Quote
Normspeed Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Don, I blew it. Had I read more carefully and seen that it has NEW LUG NUTS, I would have snapped this baby up PDQ. A couple of our plywood oriented members must be drooling over that trunk floor. And the interior being in good condition, with only a cracked dash and torn upholstery...what can I say? Call it the one that got away. Quote
Brad Lustig Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Don't you know that's so you can drop the moonshine out through the bottom of the trunk. Also, I didn't know the General Lee was red... Quote
Young Ed Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 It wasn't. If you guys want to see a real one Bo Duke is selling his actual car to fund an upcoming movie project. He's owned it since the TV show was being filmed. Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 although 70 odd cars were used in the making and upkeep of the General Lee I recall that only 14 (there about don't quote me at this time) were sold by Warner Brothers with letters of authenticity matching the vehicles by number to the actual filming..anything else is hype and fraud in my book even if a scrap carcass were found from the many bodies for upkeep as they were never ever finished, running, filmed vehicles. Somewhere in the shop in a box on the top right shelf is my box of Mopar mags that has this article. It is also to my recollection that the buyers were of a lottery draw and had to sign intent to restore the car. Last I read that article was eary 90's while still living in Charleston. Quote
Brad Lustig Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 It's orangish, but wayyy too much red for the General. Quote
Fireball Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 Which one of you gentlemen has placed an bid for this General Lee? a bit overkill to my wallet Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 That's the sgt. Lee, the wood floor is a nice touch, can you say excape hatch:rolleyes: Quote
Guest DeadBodyGuy Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 I love where it says in the General Lee auction "Low Monthly Payments" I wonder what a low monthly payment would be on 2 million dollars. DBG Quote
Fireball Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 Wish it was only two millions, now that it ended with 61 bids and winning nearly 10 MILLION DOLLARS I don't know what to say. Well I say it anyway, this must be some sort of scam or money laundry? http://tinyurl.com/2j6av8 Quote
John Mulders Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 Guess there must be a special knife in that car. I looked up the winning bidder and he collects : Knifes ! Hobby "street bike racing" and others but nothing related to cars. Favorite movie : Borat.... shows the level I guess ? Not sure what to think of this.... John Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 documentation...? and why did it have AC controls and no AC..? Where did that ignition system come from much less the gauges..not period correct..maybe the bidder got it for the fish smell. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 Are you guys serious......did someone really buy that thing? All I see is NO bids. It does look a little more orange in this picture. Quote
Young Ed Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 Bob I dont think anyone bought the junky red/orange one with the plywood floor and boat gas tank. We kinda veered OT(imagine that) and were talking about Bo Dukes actual General that was also on ebay. That one did sell for BIG bucks! Quote
