What is the installation sequence: (1) wheel, (2) copper/brass mounting plate, (3) nut, (4) large spring, (5) electrical wire with three pronged top plate, (6) button?

I'm missing something, there are three small tapped holes in the back of the button so there must be a part that holds that button in. I recall I pushed and turned on the button to get it out. What do I look for?

Got to beat Budstruck around the block.

Edit: Keven, Yes there must be another spring and a three pronged plate that catches the 'hub' that preceded the nut. Another reason for better disassembly organization.

Here's a few pics I took when I was working on mine. As Keven mentions, there's a spring wire that holds the 3 legged plate into the button with the small spring and wire. Then the big spring goes under that and the assembly gets twisted onto the claw in the bottom of the steering wheel.

After epoxying up the broken bits on my button and test fitting everything, as shown, it all got cleaned up, and the button repainted, before final assembly.

Merle, does your steering wheel have a horn ring or a quite large button? I'm not so sure my inners are the same as yours.

Merle: The button and the horn ring go are a unit. The horn button bolts to the ring. Now to find the smaller spring.

... Now to find the smaller spring.

It's not right next to where the steering wheel nut was laying? ;)

That's why I recommend using Ziploc, or your favorite brand, Freezer bags for organizing parts as they are disassembled. The bags come if various sizes, quart - 2 gallon, and have a built in label where you can write with a felt tip marker to remind you what's inside. And all of the little pieces parts stay together until it's time for them to go back on. I know it's too late for you now, but something to remember for 'next time'.

Are you looking for the way the horn ring goes on? If so I can take pictures of mine, I just put a horn ring on last week and and I scratched my head awhile to figure out all the parts.

If memory serves me correct, the horn buttom bolts to the ring with the three small bolts. I need a spring, then one presses the ring against the spring until the three ring legs are below the 'cage'. Then a slight turn of about 3/4" and release.

Yet I will appreciate some pics to confirm or modify my memory.

I could only come up with the attached photo for you now Paul...

I'm off to a car/truck show in the morning but I can remove my horn ring and take some photos for you when I return if you would like.

AND take a dozen pictures as well! ;)

It appears I have it right. The first spring is below the steering wheel, the second is compressed when the horn wire tri-pronged plate is pressed, then turned and released.

Thank you, most helpful. It also showed me a better method of taking picutres, i.e., take assembly pictures. A double thank you.

Edit: And Merle is right. the inners are the same, large button or horn ring.
