"New Here" 1946 Plymouth club coupe!

Hi everyone,

I just purchased a 1946 Plymouth club coupe!! I'm restoring her. She has been sitting in a back yard since 1984. I purchased her in Redding Ca. She is all original. I fell in love with her lines. I Have restored other cars, but she is the oldest. She needs new interior, body and paint (floor repair), TLC to engine and running gear. We got her to her new home. Applied for title and they said no prob. Installed a new coil, 6 volt battery and condenser, cleaned the points, flushed the engine cylinders and crankcase, added gas and she started and moved in all gears!! Starter was stuck, Generator bad bearings, Water pump leaking....sounds like a fun project!!! She has little coolant in the oil pan so we ordered a new head gasket. We rebuilt the 6 brake wheel cylinders, fought off 2 black widows and have brakes. Removed most of the interior. Cut out rusty floor pan and welded in new metal. Removed rear fenders for body work. She will be getting stripped down for a healthy sand blast. Her rear end is leaking out the pinion seal so ordered that, may have a bad pinion bearing. Purchased new radial tires, her feet were very sore! Shes taking a nap now dreaming of a new head gasket and sandblasting........

Sounds like a good project.I also have a 1946 club coupe that I'm working on.Probably don't have to mention this,as you may already be aware but it's worthwhile to flush the gas tank if it already hasn't been done.If the old gas has got stinky,etc. -it may gum up your engine...

Yes I blew out fuel lines, tank was clean, ran fuel pump untill gas was clean coming out. Then hooked line back up to carb and she started.

I'm in Chiloquin Or. just north of Klamath Falls which is 10 miles from Cali. border. I have two detached shops for working on cars and storing them. I'm semi-retired 51 years old master certified automotive tech. We have 5 acres here in the high pine desert. Summers are 80s and dry...
