Fro well over a year ago we've been trying to get this truck to Tim's home. A series of events prevented us from moving it until today. The owner was very patient is waiting all this time to have it moved and today was the day.

This is a 1955 F model truck. Notice it's nice and dry at noon time when starting to load it on the trailer.

The brakes on the right rear were locked. So, a trip to Harbor Freight and spending $90 for a set of 1" drive sockets in hopes of removing the tires and taking out the brake shoes. But couldn't get the nuts off with breaker bar or impact wrench. Yes, we were turning in the "right" direction

And it started to rain. The weatherman did not predict this.

It took dragging the truck onto the trailer inch by inch over a couple of hours ratcheting a comealong. The rain continued.

Lots of work, lots of readjustments, and finally after about 5 hours the truck is loaded

Notice Tim and his son are soaked to the bone. The truck was loaded and taken home at 45 mph. It rained the whole trip. A normal two hour drive took four hours.

Just got a call from Tim and they made it safe. The truck has a new home. But, those "free" trucks can become a lot of work.

I've had to do that same menuver with a one ton, got to be harder with that ton and a half truck. Pain in the rear to do but so satisfiying to get your prize home. C series are great looking trucks and that one looks pretty straight and solid. Have fun with your new toy.

Nice job. That is a great looking truck. The left rear brake on my one ton was locking the wheel when I picked mine up too. Rust popped the lining off the shoes. Luckily I had a flatbed to drag it up and it was on grass, so no big trouble there. Still have the marks on my driveway where the 6' pinch bar had to be used to roll it back to the garage though.

Very cool truck.

Driving that monster home was an experience!! I was at my maximum towing wieght (the truck and trailer, not me..lol) and a ton of rain to contend with.

Ima sucker for dodge trucks facing the crusher...just doesnt seem right. I have lots of room here and the will to drag them home. I dont know what I will do with this one, just happy its safe. For those who are curious....this the count so far.

1938 1.5 ton....saved from a shed about to be demo'd

1947 1.5 ton....saved from the torch (2 secs from being cut up)

1948 1/2 ton....turned into a BBQ

1948 1/2 ton....saved from a wrecking yard, was inline to be crushed

1948 Panel truck....had to have it, made a very long trip to get it

1949 1.5 ton....convinced the owner it was worth saving, so he sold it to me

1950 1/2 ton....saved from a wrecking yard, became the Bonneville truck

1950 1/2 ton....traded parts for it, now has multi year parts on it

1955 1.5 ton....Bob found it. He and the owner are really who made it happen

Not quite Reg numbers yet...lol....but who knows what'll happen. I enjoy filling my yard with real history.
