randroid Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 p24-1953, My '48 P-15 was factory painted a light tan but I found "barn red" primer under it. It has had four or five coats of paint in its life but the original primer was red. According to some specs I've read that isn't how it's supposed to be but that is what it was. Under the primer I've found deep swirls from a grinder so I expect it was a filling sort of primer from the factory. -Randy Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 your primer today should be matched for the color of topcoat you are applying so to have better coverage and faster color build...check with whoever you intend to have paint it for the brand/color of their recommendation so as to be compatable with the top coat..some systems do not like mix and match.. The reason I ask, my original hood had a "kink" in the drivers side just in front of the hood hinge and spring assembly. I was wondering if the same kind of brace might strengthen my hood ??
