GEARSHIFT CONTROL ROD BUSHING for P-15

Bob, It's a pity that you are not a little closer to me here in Oz as I ordered a few extra T200's from Andy B the last time I got parts from him. Did you get the usual "we're out of stock, call us back in about 3 months" comment? I'll probably source parts from over there elsewhere now.

Thanks Bob good to hear. Next time we're down that way we'll have to check that place out.

Rather than start a new thread, I did a search on bushings and this was the latest one that popped up for gearshift control rods.

On Tuesday while at a stop light to make a right hand turn, my gear shift lever was all play. Fortunately I was close to home and in 2nd gear so I was able to get to the house. Looks like I lost the control rod bushing but in looking at the shape of where it mounts I'm thinking I was lucky not to have slip out sooner. I posted a photo of it below.

I found a replacement part and bushing for 41 - 47 Plymouths at Texas NOS Antique Auto Parts for $10 which I ordered. Hopefully I'll get it soon but my question is, will it fit on my '52 Plymouth Cranbrook?

The design of the replacement one looks like it will secure the bushing a lot better.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Tony

You can buy the rubber bushings for the original 'lever stud' Tones - I got a few a while back from Andy Bernbaum's.

The springs can break as well. I had some made up a while back, but the truck ones are different to the car ones and I only have truck ones left.

I had mine disintegrate. So I looked around for one, but couldn't find any. I measured the post (1/4") and measured the inside dia. of the rod that holds the bushing as well as the width. and found a close enough sized one at the shop I work at and trimmed it down with a dremel and it worked great. That was 2 years ago and it's still going strong.

Just a follow up to my gearshift control rod bushing replacement story.

Texas NOS Antique Auto Parts had what I thought was the part needed for $10 and it included the shipping. It was the whole assembly including the stud. Their ad for the it indicated that it fit '41 - 47 Mopar vehicles and I thought it would work with mine. The owner, ChiefRob send me an additional bushing just in case. I'm so glad he did because it turned out to be the one that fit my '52 Cranbrook.

It was the style that looks like a spool with the two halves are threaded and come together on the shifter rod. I believe that he has a few units left. The shipping was fast, too. Check him out for other parts, too.
