thrashingcows Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 Could one of our fine members post up a pic of a set of swan mirror? Either these e-bay ones...or ones similar...so those of us (Mostly me) who don't know how they mount, or what they look like, can see them in action. Quote
Desotodav Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 Try this one Brian... http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=26588&highlight=swan+mirror . Plenty of pictures there! Desotodav Quote
central52 Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 Hey, I love all these back and forth comments. You get to learn a lot. Now, my question is: are the cowl mounted mirrors better, not only more stable since they're not on the door, but for vision? And are they 4 1/2 dia. or the more smaller 4 inch? Thanks, Ed Quote
james curl Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 The cowl mirrors suck as far as I am concerned. They are hard to adjust and the passenger side mirror is for the passenger as he is the only one who can really see anything in it. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 22, 2011 Author Report Posted August 22, 2011 most all right side mirrors through the 50's and who know how far up the line were decoration only...the swan necks mounted on the door come closest to an actual useable mirror you probably going to get that does not interfer with the vent glass..that is probably the biggest single draw back to mounting mirrors..vent glass..but hey cosmetics go a long way in dressing out a car.. Young Ed Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 I have the CA speed shop swan mirrors on my p15. I can fully open both vent windows and I can see out of both sides. The pass side is tricky to adjust but once its right I can see. A 5" mirror head would probably make it better but I havent run across one to try. Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 I bought these cheep clip ons from JC Whitney several years back. No clearance issues with the wing vents and I do have some vision from the passanger side mirror. I think I paid less than twenty bucks delivered. Quote
40plyrod Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 I'm not wanting to reheat this debate but I just recieved the set that I bought and wanted to let everyone know they look good. They are quite heavy and the quality seems good. The chrome and stainless are good and the mounting threads aren't sloppy. They came with all the mounting hardware including the hex keys to install the studs. If my car ever gets an invitation to the concours (not likely) they may have to be swapped out but I think they will work out fine for me. Thanks Tim Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 13, 2011 Author Report Posted September 13, 2011 a have had a few folks write back satisfied with the product in form of PM's or a phone call..am pleased they turned out to be a good value. I saw similar at the swap meet..you don't want to ask the price.. Quote
steveplym Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 A friend of mine put them on his '37 Chevy and they look and work great. I saw about the same sets at Frog Follies going for $75 to $100. Quote
NatesSedan Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 I got mine as well and will confirm they are pretty darn nice! Thanks again for the heads up Tim. Quote
Chester Brzostowski Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 Well the best thing about this post for me is I think I have finally discovered what a Boo-Bird is, well maybe, or maybe not ??? It doesn’t really matter or does it ??? Oh well I think I will just stay confused. Chet… Quote
