Today, I changed my shocks, I used the Monroe 5752 on the front and the 31000 on the rear. I found this info on this site. I phoned my local parts store with these numbers and they told me the numbers were no good. I told them the numbers were off the Monroe site, I checked. Nope, no good. I phoned the next place and they asked what are they for? I told them a 1950 Dodge, but here are the numbers. OK, the guy said. Let me put you on hold, 2 minutes later he is back on the phone. The numbers are good, but I will need to order them, they won't be in until this afternoon. Guess where I go for parts now. They were amazingly easy to change. Back on topic, after changing the shocks, I started up the car and gas is flowing from the fuel pump. I searched this site, and found a picture of exactly what I have, gas flowing from the weep hole, my pump needs re-building. Also, it appears mine should be an Auto-Lite FA4001, where is the best place to get a rebuild kit? I have an fuel pump that a neighbor sold me, it is an NOS, still in the box. It is an Ultra-Prene diaphragm pump by Automotive Accessory out of Winnipeg, Manitoba. I know that it will be affected by the ethanol in gas, but will it fit till I get mine rebuilt? I will attach pictures. Sorry for the rambling story.

I will order the rebuild kit ASAP, but our driving season is short as it is. We have a cruise planned for the 23rd of August and another one in early September and I hope to attend both. My engine is the 25" Canadian 218 if that matters.

Thanks

With all new mechanical fuel pumps, check to assure the pin that the pump lever rides on is firmly esconsed in its position. there have been several instances reproted here that the pins in new pumps ARE NOT properly secured. This has led from inoperative pumps, to internal engine damage.

The simplest thing to do is to fashion a clip or clamp the fits over both ends of the pin in such a manner as to not allow it to move out of its place in either direction.

Hey, do you have the part # for that rebuild kit? I am looking for one also. Thanks! Todd Bracik

When I bought a kit to rebuild my pump I actually brought the pump to Antique Auto Cellar in Weymouth, MA. I was glad that I did, because apparently that although the mopar pumps are all similar, there are quite a few variations. You should probably call them and have the pump handy to answer questions.

I sent them an email yesterday about a kit. They responded shortly and said to pull the pump and send them the info. off of it. He would send the proper kit right away. He quoted me $37.50 for the kit and $25 to ship it to Canada. Hope to pull the pump tonight.

Pulled mine tonight. Will clean it up and order my repair kit as well.

At the same time, I installed the NOS pump that my neighbor sold me and it bolted right in. This should work until I get the original rebuilt.
