Young Ed Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 I doubt it not much demand for NOS caps for the cheapy deluxes. Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 One thing that baffles me is the ring on those caps are not painted red. But I've seen factory photos with them painted. Go figure! Tom Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 BTW.... I have one 1946 to 48 Plymouth hubcap. Anybody have a 1941/42 hubcap to trade me? Tom Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 what in the world are you going to do with 41 hubcaps for a 42? Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 Just so you have some extras. Just in case. Quote
JoelOkie Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 I also have a some Plymouth caps of several different styles, ranging from rough as hell to not half bad. I have taken the skins off and worked the dings out and buffed some that were in pretty bad shape before and made them usable, and some of these would be ok for "driver" situations. I don't need any of them anymore if there is anyone looking for one of these. Joel Quote

Don Coatney Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 The second picture brought to mind the famous ebay tea pot:D Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 Don, I could have gone the rest of my life without that image being brought to mind....just to clear the air, that was not you selling that teapot was it...second thought..don't tell me...!!! Quote
Don Coatney Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 Some times it is best to leave the air unclear:eek: Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 The seller states they are 9 inch.......that is the original size diameter for the Deluxe model (Spec Dlx had 10 inch). Just in case everyone doesn't know this fact. And.....the rings were NOT painted red originally. Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 I've got a factory photo of a '41 Plymouth and the rings are painted. Now I'm confused. Tom Quote
Young Ed Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 BTW.... I have one 1946 to 48 Plymouth hubcap. Anybody have a 1941/42 hubcap to trade me?Tom I found two. Both 10". One dull but possibly saveable with some dings. The other is quite shiney but has some serious road rash. How much are you selling them for? I'd like to get one of the less shiny ones for my garage wall. I've got a bunch of various ones that'd make great wall art. Including a couple aftermarket ones that say Plymmmth, a Chrysler bottle cap, a full wheel cover that says DeS and a bunch of other brands. Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 Thanks for all the responces, I'm gonna check when I get home tonight. The PO put 15 inch wheels on it so I don't know what size the hubcaps are. Tom Quote

The 9" ones were for deluxes and trucks and 10"s for special deluxes. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 as an added note for Tommy on the use of the 9's verse 10's the 10's are a must if you are going to run the full stainless trim rings.... Quote

JoelOkie Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 (edited) Going off the thread just a bit, but not sure why I got these (other than I had a chance to snag them), as I have never had, nor plan to have a DeSoto, but they are in pretty good shape, with very minor dings, and look like they would shine up reasonably well. I have another complete set of the DeSoto hubcaps, and some more Plymouth hubcaps that are in the back of a shed, but with dog days upon us the copperheads and rattlesnakes are overly aggressive just now, so I will have to wait a while to get in there and dig for them. There are several like this really old type Plymouths that has this lock deal, (but this is the only one I have with a lock), and a couple of really small ones exactly like them, only maybe 3 " or 4" across, with the same script, and of what they fit, I don't know. I have had a couple of real nice sets of the P-15 Hubcaps that I straightened, buffed, and re-painted, but they went with the cars when I sold them. It is a lot of work, and they can be bought, so i'm not sure what is the best way to go. I just wanted to see if and what I could do with them myself. Joel Edited July 23, 2011 by JoelOkie Quote

Pick one out. The only one in any of these pictures I am planning on hanging on to is the one that has the keyed lock, as I have not ran across another one of those. Joel Quote
