Hi all, well summer has hit Manitoba today, it is 90 in the shade, and with the humidex factor, it is 107, now this is warm for us, but I like it just the same.

I told my Boy, this is the type of weather some of you Guys deal with for weks or even months at a time. We may have weather like this for 6 weeks, with the odd cooler day mixed, by Labor Day, it will be getting cooler, like temps in 70s....

Just took the 47 on a short 10 mile ride down the hghway and gravel road, engine temp stayed steadyat 165. This would no dount rise 20 degrees higher on a longer faster haul, or idling in a parade. But this is much better than before, when I would get a different engine temp, depending on which way the way was blowing, going against the wind it would stay cooler.

With my new t/stat, and clean cooling system, it runs much more efficient. I suspect of a long drive she would creep up to 175-180, which is decent .

My fuel lines were getting warm, as the under hood temp is high on a day like this, but she re-started, after 10 minutes, so maybe things are okay.....LOL

I also have noticed that on several occasions.

It would seem that if the engine /car was driven against the wind, in hot weather, that would create a higher load on the crankshaft, thus creating higher engine and coolant temps, but inmy case it was the opposite.

Now witha new t/stat that appears to funtction correctly, this engine temp change, is far more stable, either going down wind, or against the wind.

I realize that the greater the airflow across the cooling fins, the more efficient the heat transfer ablility.

I think my past engine temp problems were beacause, I had drilled a 1/8 hole in the t/stat body, this swas to allow air to escpae on refilling of the coolant system, I probale only needed a pin hole, this was allowing constant and perhaps faster circulation, not allowing the rad to do its job to reduce coolant temperature, it also was the reason my engine had a very hard time getting to operating temps in colder weather.

So I learned something on this front............PS it is mighty hot here for us, easy 95 at my place, add the humidity, maybe 110, not complaing, cuz it can be -30 here, with -40 windchills, hard to believe our temps could vary that much.........

Fred next time stick a couple asprin in the thermostat. They will disolve when in the coolant.

Are you saying my engine coolant is running a feve:pr..........LOL

You said a big mouthfull in your statement and there is no need to say more.

I like the asprin idea ! Would have saved me some greif ! 100 degrees in shade here! plus the high humidity ! Summer's just getting started here also, long summer left....... Weather station forecast is about 107 plus the humidity ! like 40 % !!!! I spent the last few days putting a side walk, yes, in the sun ! Talk about sweat !

Fred, we had a nice day with a light breeze, lots of sunshine, with temps in the lower 70's. Hope the weather stays this way for along time. We have had approx 22 inches of rain since April

FYI I've never tried the asprin thing but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Anyone tries it first please report back!
