oldmrham Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I sure need help on finding the right size for my 47 special deluxe P-15 four door Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Well, the first question is = are your rims 16 or 15 inch? Next, do you want bias ply or radials? Black or white sidewalls? There are various previous threads on tires and sizes.....have you tried using the search function in the upper right corner of the main screen? Quote
oldmrham Posted April 26, 2011 Author Report Posted April 26, 2011 (edited) they are 16's I would like radials Edited April 26, 2011 by oldmrham add more info Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 with no more information that given above I would advise you to ask this question to whom are you going to buy your tires from...being in the business and more than not local to you for service, plus they have all these tools available at hand and can quickly find the size, type construction radial/bias and sidewall features you'd want and can quote you a price including installation if desired... Powerhouse Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 (edited) here is some info I compiled when searching for my radials..I went with 15 inch wheels so I do not know how these measure up in person. 16 RADIAL height 600r16 28" 205/70-16 27.3" 205/75-16 28" 215/70-16 27.8" here is a formula- (Width mm) / 25.4 x (.ratio) x 2 + (wheel diameter)=SIZE so... 215/70-R16 would be: 215/25.4 x .70 x 2 + 16=27.8 this may help as well. http://www.moparregister.com/articles/calc/ Edited April 26, 2011 by Powerhouse Quote
oldmrham Posted April 26, 2011 Author Report Posted April 26, 2011 I'm in Tulsa and am looking for tires and if i buy the P205' do i still need tubes? Quote
Alshere59 Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 (edited) I'm in Tulsa and am looking for tires and if i buy the P205' do i still need tubes? Depends. Do you have stock rims? If so I think they are riveted. So they may leak air from there. If they have the rivets I would say just clean around them and paint with something that would seal. Then no tubes. Valve stems may need to be a bolt on variety as the tube type normally have larger holes even oval. No show stoppers just things to consider. Also have them checked for warping etc. After that many years it never hurts. Ask me how I know. Edited April 26, 2011 by Alshere59 Quote
1950 Special Deluxe Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I'm in Tulsa and am looking for tires and if i buy the P205' do i still need tubes? I put used 205 15" radials on my old stock rims without tubes. I just cleaned them up as best as possible. I need to add air a couple of times per driving season. Quote
Powerhouse Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 (edited) Forgot to mention if you are using original 16" wheels to try and use safety rim versions...I believe they were stock for 1940 and onward. They have the safety bead humps to hold the tire on in case of deflation while driving...which could be devastating. You can feel the humps from outside...so it will go inward all around the rim. kinda like this...but more like the left side of he picture. http://www.a-tconsulting.co.uk/caravan_tech/images/tyre_bands/profile4s.jpg Edited April 26, 2011 by Powerhouse Quote
