Bob_Koch Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 SEMA has posted what they call a Toolbox of information regarding registering/titling older cars and trucks in each of the 50 states. Hopefully some of you will find it helpful: http://www.semasan.com/main/main.aspx?id=62843#tag-title-toolbox-2011 Quote
ggdad1951 Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 (edited) thanks Bob! I'm about to register mine un '51 plates and hope this has the info in it I need! Edited March 1, 2011 by ggdad1951 Quote
Young Ed Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Did you find some truck plates? I've got 46 and 48 plates on my car and truck. Haven't found a 1940 truck plate for the next project yet. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 yah I've got 3 sets of plates I picked up at Back to the 50's. In reading the documents they are saying I need turn signals and 2 brake lights...my truck did not come with them originally! WT HECK! Quote
Young Ed Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 I noticed that too. I didn't think you had to have them unless the vehicle was originally equiped. I got sick of not having them and have now added them to both my car and truck. Put a signal stat 900 in both of them. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 (edited) I'm running "under the radar" as long as I can....if I get pulled over I jsut say it never had them and deal with it then. Ed, do you know the "proper" format for truck plates for MN from around '51? Not having much luck on finding that on the interweb (I have a set of all numbers ###-### and 2 sets of Y##-###). Young Ed Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 All numbers is a car plate. The Y might be truck. My 46 truck plate is Txxxxx Quote
ggdad1951 Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 (edited) the all numbers is cars only I think I got figured out...but that is all I could figure from reviewing stuff....I'm gonn ahave to run to the DMV and ask them and wait for them to figure it out I bet....might NOT be doing it under a '51 plate this year if I don't have the right format! called the DMV...they are...SHOCKING....clueless...talked to a guy here and he found a site with pics that had the "Y" plates for trucks back then, so that's what I'm gonna do. 48Dodger Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Nice site Bob. Easy to read. When I used the California DMV site it was confusing. I was trying to register the Bonneville truck with the 408 stroker and modified frame. Still haven't finished the process because we got an exception from the USFRA. Next Year we won't be in a class that requires the registration (150 mph) but will still register it for the fun of driving it to town. 48D:D http://www.youtube.com/user/194853DodgeTrucks Quote
Jim Gaspard Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 This had to take lots of time and effort assembling the information from multiple DMV's. Thanks Bob for such a great site and continued dedication to our trucks (and cars). Quote
