Joe Flanagan Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 Was installing my oil strainer and discovered this little piece. Does anyone know what it is and where it's supposed to go? It was in a plastic bag where I stored my strainer. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 Goes in the distributor rotor. Bob Quote
oldodge41 Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 Looks like the clip from inside the distributor rotor that holds the rotor to the shaft. Mine falls out every time I pull the rotor off. don't know how it would find its way into the oil pan though. Maybe got dropped in there before the filler tube was installed?............Tim Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 19, 2011 Author Report Posted February 19, 2011 You guys are absolutely right. I love this forum. Thank you. Quote

Niel Hoback Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Did you find my 1884 Canadian 5 cent piece in there too? I seem to have misplaced it. Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 I thought is was the clip that held down the mufler bearing! Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 20, 2011 Author Report Posted February 20, 2011 That's correct. It was a recycled plastic bag that already had the clip to the rotor in it. A new way of screwing things up that I'd never thought of before. Didn't find your 5 cent piece, Niel, but could I interest you in some old racing forms from the early 1980s? How about a 1976 license plate from Washington DC or a nice set of blue velour drapes--only urinated on once!! Very funny, JipJob. I know it's not the muffler bearing because mine is properly installed in the muffler. Quote
