That is about the cheesiest move I've seen in a long time. What absolute gall to make you pay so much as a dime for what is clearly faulty product and missing items. And what arrogance to figure that you will just lie there and be Kanter's doormat.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Anyway, that's my opinion.

My opinion also. I just did not take the time to write it out. I am glad you did.

I don't know, as I don't get Hemmings regularly, but I'd guess they advertise in there.

If so, you can take your complaint to Hemmings who will threaten to remove Kanter's advertising if they don't adequately resolve the problem.

That applies very strong pressure.

Sadly, I had to do this many years ago, when I was supplied with seat upholstery (not from Kanter) that was completely wrong.

I got every cent back, including the cost of shipping to the UK.

Another option would be to contact your credit card provider, if you paid by card.

Don't let them get away with it.

Good luck.

Robin.

Why would you get carpet from Kanter auto parts? I am just asking a question. I have used kanter for many years and I have never had a real problem with them. I have ordered brake parts, motor parts, front end parts,Carb parts. They have a nice Packer parts bin.

Our Plymouth, Dodge cars have a history of being utility type cars with removable floors under the driver. This would demand a easy access typecover. So whenever a carpet is used it's "custom" I bought carpet by the roll and had it cut and sewn. This way it can be bordered so it can be removed. This is why your carpet is "short" on the ends. They were thinking of you Most old Plymouth and dodges don't have door sills

rodney,

No my 39 Desoto I also had a 39 Dodge and this had the same setup, there are floor moldings that has a rubber strip that is use to help seal the door and there is a stainless steel strip that bolts to the endhge of the floor ant each door. The carpet when it is bound onthe edges and also the floor mats would then tuck under the molding. I just think Kanter cut the wrong carpet set. Also all carpetset shound be bound to stop then ends and side from fraying.

i was debating, having the oem rubber matt reproduced, the only problem is i would have to outlay around 15k, because the company who made them before, needs a minimum of 250 pieces made. do you think 250 pieces would sell? This is the company i believe Sal Salerno made them from. i need rubber for my car aswell.

15,000 divided by 250 is only 60 bucks. Might take a little while but I think you could sell them at 60 plus shipping.

Fred and Dan Kanter, brothers, are owners.

They started out looking for Packard parts in 1960, and things progressed

from there.

Anyway, here's a link to an article about them (in case anyone is

actually interested).

It would seem to me they could also refund the shipping since it looks

to be their error on the part.

I have had good luck with a local upholstery shop for carpet. Mail order is way too expensive up here after exchange, shipping and border costs. I prefer to deal with the person who will make the carpet as well.

Price is comparable when you consider you usually get what you pay for. Carpet is expensive.

That's what I did Pat, had mine made locally.

But for a headliner , No way, will mail order from the USA.

The dollar is near par, no duty on USA made goods, and shipping is reasonable on lighter items.

To have a headliner sewn up here, would be in the $500 range, with a pattern, no pattern, who knows.

I can buy a somewhat decent headliner from EZ Boy for around $159.00 USD, plus postage, and some GST(Canadian Goods and Services Tax) and PST(Provinicial Sales Tax). That said, would probably run me about $230.00...

Those Obviously Poor Customer Service Policy at Kanters, should have either paid return shipping, and given a 100% full refund, or given a refund of 100% and told you to do what you want with the carpet, if they were to cheap to pay return shipping.

A couple of years ago, Roberts sent me something defective, they sent me another no questions asked, and did not want there 1st item they shipped me back, they told me to garbage it or keep it....

I can't say i had a similar experience with them but i can tell you they don't know how to store parts. Bought a front end kit from them. Opened up the package and many of the parts had some pretty bad pitting from rust on them. Either not new or they store their parts badly enough that they need to refurbish them before they send them out.

Earlier this week I was replacing the e-brake cables on my 84 Dodge crewcab. I had bought the Raybestos cables through JC Whitney on-line. The first side went well, then I pull the cable out of the box for the other....it was manufactured backwards!!

So I call up JCW and tell them my problem...instant refund, including shipping. I then had to get the cable from a local parts house at double the price, but truck was all apart and I had to get it going.

But this was not even their fault and they still warrantied the item 100%!! Not the first time I've had a problem with JCW, but they have always made it right.
