So, I've plowed thru the Babb book, and have a few questions. I got my gas tank and radiator back yesterday and want to give myself something to do while it is below 10°F out.

BTW: Gas tank repair/rebuild: $365 Radiator: $35 (gotta love these old ones, they LAST!).

Babb lists the fuel pump heat shield as black, yet most pictures I've seen has them silver

Gas tank: what is the original color, I can't find anything...Black? Silver? Other?

Radiator: black, but gloss or flat?

remember I'm going for as "orignal" as I can.

thanks!

I believe the gas tanks were galvanized when new and left natural. That being said both my car and truck one are now black.

Tank Renu has this black baked on coating...wondering if I should paint silver over that?

I think you'll find the radiator is a semi-gloss black and is thin, meaning the radiator has enough color on it so it's black and that all. I believe paint is available that is intended solely for radiators due to the heat cycles it goes through. Ford trucks of that year were semi -gloss on the inner panels and radiator and would expect Dodge trucks, Chevy to be similar.

My tank was unpainted and natural when I started with it but now it has a black sealer on it, and my radiator is semi-gloss.
