Thank you for finding and posting that up. The Jay Leno process is a bit outside the average hobbyist price range. But the Killer Chrome method, at $115 for the 3 can process, is a lot more reasonable.

I will be bookmarking them for a future purchase.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these products? Would they be suitable for body chrome? I don't have the $$$ to have anything properly re-chromed...plus my car is no show car...in fact, it does not even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence.

Per usual, I could not load the Leno's Garage clip (frustrating). From the previous post I am assuming that it is not a "spray on" solution?

Yup both processes are spray on. The Leno stuff is more a big bulk, use a spray gun. The killer chrome is in regular spray cans, very handy!!

I would think it would be fine for body mouldings, or anything that would accept paint. But it would obviously not have the ruggedness of chrome, and if scratched would mar the surface. But I would not hesitate to use it.

I might end up doing my whole grill in the stuff since I can't afford the $2000 or more to repair, and then re-chrome the entire grille. With this I can repair my grille with fillers and then sand and prime, then paint it chrome. And probably do it all for a few hundred dollars.

I was just looking in the Eastwood catalog and noticed that they have similar spray can product called Eastwood Liquid Chrome. Like the Killer Chrome it a 3 can process. $119.97 for the kit.

I read a report on another web site a few months back about the killer chrome. The pictures looked pretty good but the reviewer said that the nozzle on the chrome spray was not large enough, so the Chrome came out very unevenly; resulting in runs and some blotches. As I remember the real issue was with the spray can and not the "paint". Eastwood system might solve that problem by using a large nozzle air brush

Has anyone tried the Killer Chrome or the Eastwood Liquid Chrome yet ? I took some parts to a plating service the other day and they wanted $305 for these parts. I only left 3 of the 6 parts with them to save $200. The ring is 16" in diameter. I brought it and the 2 parts with the stripes back home to try the spray chrome on soon.

Have only heard 2nd hand information. The going advice seems to be fair for inside parts that don't see a lot of wear. Post your results if you give it a shot.

I have a couple of gravel guards I was going to get priced. Not sure I want to know.

This is pretty cool. Does anybody know what the price is for the Crome Solutions stuff?

I have been looking at some videos of the Killer Chrome stuff and, while some of it looks great, there are a few videos on youtube in which it comes out just looking like paint. There is one video on youtube with an Xbox that looks horrible!

The process of plating and in this case would be a replating intales several steps.

If you just think they are going to plate over the old chrome then you are incorrect.

They have to clean the parts, look for any cracks, in the meatl, Grind the old chrome off the peices.

If there is major pitting then they have to repair the pits and this can entail a small grid stone to get to a clean surface.

They then copper plate the the piece and look to make sure the pit holes are filled. If thislooks good then then nickel plate the pieces.

Then they use the chrome plating.

So if you break down the 6 pieces then it is $50 for each one to be plated and with the possible work that is involved the plater did not make much money and also you need to account for his time and chemicals and also for the EPA that monitors his business.

It is getting harder to find platers becasue of the EPA restrictions. the price is going up each year.

When goin to the plater always confirm what he is going to do and if it is show chrome or just nickel then chrome and also his guarantee. Some platers are just called flash platers and he will just clean it up a little but not do his leg work to get the piece to be perfect again as flash or quick plate job.
