Woody Branham Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 I listed a pair of dome light switches on Ebay yesterday afternoon. As of a few minutes ago only three people had looked at them I just went into the catagory and they were not there. I go there every day looking for parts for the p11 and my DeSoto and have noticed some strange things lately. Here is an example... I just bought a new coil yesterday for the p11. When I noticed it there were only two days left to bid. I check every day both newly listed and ending soonest for at least 18 hours and never saw this coil until 24 hours before auction end. Young Ed Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 My fender shirts are a good example of an incorrect listing! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Yes....a better title line might help things. When I search for Plymouth parts, I put in (1946,1947,1948) Plymouth so it is more year specific. Your ad might likely not come up for me. Quote
martybose Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 I use (1946,1947,1948,46,47,48)(Plymouth,Dodge,Mopar) as my search, so that it catches listings like 47 Plymouth or 1947 Mopar. Marty Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 I use (show me everything thedahmer has looked at) if its out there he has probably seen it... Quote

Guest tagree01 Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 I noticed on eBay about a year ago that there is a bug in the system. I did a search and it said it found 15 items, but there were only 12 that showed up using the "list view" option. I switched to the "picture gallery" view and all 15 showed up. I noticed it on 2 different searches. Now I view everything in "picture gallery". Quote
David Maxwell Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 ...is an occasional dropped listing. Sometimes I will store items in my watch list only to have it drop from the list before I can bid on it and then reappear in the "ended auctions" list after it has closed. A few times this has really been a pisser. I'm really begining to slow my ebay activity and will probably stop nearly all activity soon. Lately, I've had too many sellers try and stick it to me on the shipping cost for items. In a couple of cases, I have simply refused to pay it and received negative feedback as a result. You know, when you put an item up for auction and it doesn't bring what you thought it would, that doesn't give you the right to make it all back in bogus shipping and handling fees. Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 ...You know, when you put an item up for auction and it doesn't bring what you thought it would, that doesn't give you the right to make it all back in bogus shipping and handling fees. That is why I will not bid on an item unless I know the shipping cost up front. When I sell on the bay I give a flat rate up front cost of shipping. A couple of times it has cost more to ship than the price I posted. So I take my lumps and learn from it. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 I have pretty much stopped using ebay altogether. I've only had about 5 or 6 transactions in the last 12 months. If I need something, I'd rather find it at a swap meet or if it can be bought new from the parts store or catalog outfit, I'll just order it be done with it. Don't like sitting around for a week just to see if I can win a bid on something. Would rather pay a couple bucks extra than play that game. I do not use the flat rate shipping if I'm selling something though. I simply state that the buyer pays exact shipping from my zip code. Then at the end of the auction I estimate the shipping cost by using the UPS, USPS or FedEx site. Sometimes I'm a few penny's over and sometimes a few penny's short. If short, I do as Don Coatney does and eat the difference. If I charged a little over the buyer pays the difference. It's usually not more that a dollar or two either way and in the end it probably comes out even. The way I look at it is, if I charged a few penny's too much, well........that's my fee for packaging since I don't add a packaging fee. Quote
