Here's a photobucket link to yesterday's show at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia. I went there with some of the POC folks and we all enjoyed the show. We had the only two teardrop trailers and they both were hooked to Plymouth Suburbans. The spectators really like those teardrops! This link contains about 50 photos so if you're on dial up, it might lock you up for a while, so beware.

The wife and I purchased a Teardrop over the weekend. It’s a re-pop of an original 46 Kitt. We bought it from a guy in Lodgepole, NE who is into Chryslers (he had 2 beautiful black 54’s, and convertible and a 4 door sedan), but is in the business of restoring Model A’s. He looked all over the country for an original trailer, and found one in his own back yard in Bridgeport, NE. It needed total restoration, so while he was at it, he made patterns and built 6 new ones. So, now I have to figure out a trailer hitch for the 41, and wire up trailer lights. Now I’m anxious to go camping in it.

Don, nope that's about all of 'em.

Lee, great looking rig. I love 41 coupes. My car came with the hitch, it's a receiver type, real solid. If it would help I can take a couple photos of how it's bolted in.

Norm that would be great! I had one that clamped on the bumper on my 49 years ago, which I saved. But these bumpers don't have near the strength of the rippled 49 bumpers, not that I'd want to do that anyway. But I need some ideas to fabricate something. Thanks, Lee

I also posted a PM exprexssing interest in the hitch...I have two here at the house, the 2" receiver and the smaller size. I have open frame tips at the rear and that is what has me nervous about the receiver hitch install..was curious if Normspeed's frame is boxed and if they used the original rear cross over for support, was it reenfored. They are both a bit heavy and will need modification in any application, a bit hard to hold, measure and such by one's self. I definitely want a receiver style on my car if at allpossible.

I'm at work :( so I'll have to take a look this evening. I seem to recall it is bolted to the frame tips as well as bolted through the bumper right at the center. Really solid.

For what it's worth, I use to have a hitch on my coupe. Came on the car when I bought it. Was the old style though, not the receiver type. That one had a heavy piece of angle iron welded from one frame rail to the other just behind the original frame cross support. Then the hitch tongue was welded to it and extended to just beyond the bumper and had a support bolted to the bumper. Took it off the car though, cut the hitch tongue off and left the angle iron support there. I would think you could do about the same thing with a receiver type hitch. Weld both sides to the frame welds, then use angle iron to cross over and weld the cross over part of the receiver hitch to the cross over angle iron. After all that, don't think that thing would come loose.

I must show my ignorance here. What exactly does "receiver" mean when talking trailer hitches? I understand telephone receiver and footballs famous wide receiver (although I do not understand why there is not a narrow receiver) but I do not understand receiver hitch? Help me out here.

Don..a receiver hitch is the one with the hollow tube for inserting the actual square piece the hitch ball bolts onto..the one with the pin you pull and remove from the vehicle. Allow for quick interchange of ball size, quick fix a pintle hitch onto..you see them daily.

In addition to Tim's reply. The receiver type hitch is nice for two other reasons. One, you do not see the ball or anything coming out from under the car when it's removed. Two, you don't knock your shins on it when walking around the car when the ball is removed because the receiver is completely under the car or truck.

I have had one for years but did not know it. So using this defination a bumper mounted hitch with such a removal square hitch piece is a receiver type hitch. Has nothing to do with weight capacity or pulling capacity.

Now If I can just figgure out why there is not a narrow football receiver.

Nice rig. Does that fellow sell just the plans for the teardrop?

I have never seen a sunvisor like that before, what kind is it?

They didn't have any Hooters Babes around West Covina when I lived there. If they had I might still live there. Looks like I should go down and check out the old stomping grounds. LOL. It took me this long to read the writing on the shirt.

I’m not sure about the Teardrop plans. I know there are a lot of them on the net, and on the Bay.

The sunvisor was an eBay purchase. It was for a 41 Plymouth, still in the original box, packaged (wrapped) in newspaper from 1951. I have a Fulton, but like the skirts, I need to get it painted.

Driving to work this morning I spotted a receiver on a big pickup that did not have the insert in place. However it did have some sort of bag hanging below it with a couple of big lumps in the bag. Anyone know what this receiver accessory is:confused:

There is a tight end but I wonder why there is not a loose end on a football team?
