I'm wiring my 48 DeSoto and can't find where the headlight terminal block goes. It's a 3 terminal block according to the diagram. Common sense would say it mounts near the 2 terminal block for the blinkers and near the horn relay but there are no mounting holes for anything other than the 2 terminal block (blinkers) and horn relay.

If anyone knows where the 3 terminal headlight block mounts, please let me know. I'm stumped.

On my 48 plymouth there are 3 holes. The top hole for the 2 terminal strip shares a screw with the bottom of the 3 holer. So see if you have 1 more screw hole above your existing strip.

Thanks for the help. I don't have a third hole anywhere on the panel. All the holes are taken up with the horn relay and 2 terminal block. My setup is apparently different from the 47 plymouth, the horns are mounted differently.

I'm totally baffled!

For what it is worth, the headlight terminal block on my '41 P12 Plymouth is in the engine compartment on the driver's side about midway on the inner fender wall.

On my d24 they are on the inner fenderwell between the radiator and the grille, on the driver's side. There are three holes that support a 2 post junction and a 3 post junction, 5 in all......the 2 blocks by the center mounting hole.

My 48 Desoto only has 4 mounting holes, two for the horn relay and two for the 2 terminal block. After another member suggested one of the holes is shared, that made me think in my case, two holes are shared. Maybe the 3 terminal block goes between the horn relay and the 2 terminal block and shares one bolt with the relay, and one with the 2 terminal block.

I could confirm that if I could find my 3 terminal block but I can't find it anywhere. One of the hazzards of doing a frame off, something always comes up missing.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Here's a pic of a 1946 chrysler 3 terminal block-maybe the same?

Bob, Yours looks exactly like mine and my thought was correct, the 3 terminal shares a mounting hole with the horn relay and the 2 terminal block. Now I need to find a 3 terminal block.

Thanks!

I found a reproduction Chrysler Corp 3 terminal junction block at YnZ's Yesterdays Parts for $15. As far as the picture goes, it looks identical to the original shown in the Mopar parts manual. Hopefully the size is right and it will mount in the same spot as the original.

These tended to rust out over the years which is why I probably didnt keep my original. Once I get the reproduction one, I'll let everyone know how it fits in case yours is rusted out.

I received the 3 terminal junction block from YnZ today. It mounts perfectly in the original spot. If you didn't know better, you would think it's an NOS piece. It's made almost identical to the 2 terminal block it mounts next to.

It is a shame, but my Desoto is in the shop about 30 miles from here or I could walk outisde, and tell you the answer.

My wife has moved so many of my things around I have no idea where my parts book is either. She happens to be in Mexico City, so I was unable to help you out from either direction.

It is a shame because I have a '48 New Yorker and a '48 Desoto club coupe. The one chance I have to jump in and answer a question from one of our members, I am sitting here helpless to be of assistance.

Hope you get it worked out. Love my old cars, but have been too sick to work on them of late so I and my wife have hidden allot of things from myself. Sorry!!!!

Here's a pic of it mounted in the original spot between the 2 terminal block and the horn relay. The part number at YnZ is 66 and the nomenclature is "non GM style 3 position junction block". It's listed in their catalog as a Chrysler replacement. Price is $15.
