55 Fargo Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Hey all, did a preliminary fit test on my visor. I still need a center bracket, and left side end adjuster retainer piece. Please does anyone have any of these parts, I really can use them I do not want to fab up something that is not a Fulton piece. Here are 2 pics, of it on my car, it needs to be prepped and painted yet......Fred Quote
moose Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 That looks great! I have one for my Windsor too. Love that look. Wish I could help you, but I'm going to use mine... Quote

Thanx Moose, thought maybe this thread is a little too boring, yawn yawn:rolleyes:. Here isa pic of the ole Girl in the driveway, it's only 5 above, and sunny and calm, let her warm up, and drove down the orad and back, nice and toasty warm inside. So I am on the look-out for the parts I need, may have to fab something temporarily, after I paint the visor. I hear someone on Epay sells these brackets....... Quote
1940plymouth Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Fred, that is one AWESOME looking car. Now I have to ask, does your province salt the roads? Here in New York, the state roads are white with salt after the state plows go thru. The town uses a sand and salt mixture, but the state uses pure salt Quote
Jim Yergin Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Fred, I have to say the pictures of your car are inspiring but as we sit here in Virginia with what is probably our last near 70' day of the year, the weather shown in the pictures is a depressing reminder of what is coming. Can you tell I am not a fan of winter? Jim Yergin Quote

I do not drive in winter, just a little jont down my road today, very slowly.....Fred Ps Manitoba, Saskatchewan Alberta, re generally not bad places for old car, not much salt was used here, and it is very cold and dry in Winter..... thrashingcows Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) Here's a link to one of the people selling the center brackets for the Fulton Visor. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110598106321&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT And these brackets...not sure if they would work on the Fulton Visor or not?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DIETRICH-SUNVISOR-STAINLESS-END-BRACKETS-GM-FULTON-/370142571783?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item562e376d07 I need all the brackets for mine as well, center and sides, but have not been able to find anyone re-popping the side "bones" yet. Still looking though. Edited November 23, 2010 by thrashingcows Quote

Can you take a close up pic, of the underside, showing the center mount brackets, and a close up pic of the side brackets, and their proximity to the car itself. I am hoping by looking at some detailed pics, I am on the right track on my installation, and what I will need to do for the center bracket. The 2 center arm bracket attaches to the visor on mine with 2 attachements, that go throught the slots on the center section underside of the visor. I have to fab these 2 little items, then either buy the 2 bracket arms, or fab my own. This is also turning out to be a not so easy project, I was sure someone might have some parts, or an old damaged visor kicking around I could acquire to make mine complete, guess not........Thanx Fred Quote
aero3113 Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 Fred, a while back I purchased a fulton visor on ebay that did not come with the center bracket. I ordered the bracket from the seller that thrashingcows posted (first link) and they were good quality. Quote
1940plymouth Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 Fred here are some photos, I hope they help you out. If you want, let me know just exactly what parts you need, and I will take mine off the car, send them to you so you can use them as a pattern. I would gladly do so to help you out Quote
55 Fargo Posted November 24, 2010 Author Report Posted November 24, 2010 Thanks a lot Bob.........Fred Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 I have a spare side bracket with all the bits-and-pieces. Do you need the whole thing, or just some parts of it? And by "left" you mean the driver's side? I don't remember which side the one I have is, but I'll check when I get home this evening and if it is what you need, you are welcome to it. Quote

Hi Dan, I need the left side, inside piece, (it's round, and has 2 screw holes), it holds on the adjustment arm onto the side bracket, whcih I have. I also need 3 of the littles set-screws, for the same............Thanx a bunch Dan Edited November 24, 2010 by Rockwood Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 If memory serves me right, I don't think those parts are side-specific. I'll check and get back with ya by the end of the week. Quote

Dan Hiebert Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 The one I have is marked "R" with quite a large letter. I generally have a firm grasp of the obvious, so that looks like its specific to the right side. They are made so that once assembled, there is a slot to allow for the angle of that support piece if you mount the visor at a low angle, and that slot is what makes it particular to left or right. BUT - these may be hard to find, and if you think you may still be able to use the "wrong side", your still welcome to it. I only have the two paired screws for this piece. Quote

55 Fargo Posted November 29, 2010 Author Report Posted November 29, 2010 Hi all, decided to see how a Fulton Model #1000 center bracket may or may not work on my Fulton #700 Visor. The good news is it attaches as it should to the center bar, the bracket that attached to the visor is different. I am going to figure out a plan to attach this to my visor without damaging it, or making extra holes. My plan is to utilize the 2 slots on the center section of the visor, to make some type of attachments throught the slots, which the center brackets can be fastened to, via 4 machine or self tapping screws. If an when I get the correct 2 arm brackets, will change, this out. I would gladly swap this fulton bracket to anyone in ned for the correct 2 arm brackets, with attachment points that go through the slots on the center section of the visor. I will still need the end mount bracket attachment from Dan Hiebert, if he has one. Here are 2 pics showing the bracket mounted on the centerbar, but not attached to the visor yet. Quote
55 Fargo Posted November 29, 2010 Author Report Posted November 29, 2010 Do any of yall think I should use this bracket, instead of the original type, on this visor. Would I be making a mistake altering it a bit........Fred Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 that peice is mostly out of sight and out of mind..the average person would not know the difference...if it makes a solid bond to both center divider and the visor..I say go with what you have...why make it any rougher on yourself than normal.. BobT-47P15 Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 I'm with Tim on that............. Use what ya have that works. The general public will never know the difference. Gets the item mounted and usable. If you find a different part you like better in the future, it could be changed. Not a single soul commented about my missing radio and the delete plate in its place during the car show in October. We, as the owners, are the only ones that know about certain things on the cars. 55 Fargo Posted November 29, 2010 Author Report Posted November 29, 2010 Bob and Tim, thanx for the advice, it was well taken. I did use the other Futon bracket, I did drill 4 holes thorugh the center section, then used the machine screws that were used on the fulton bracket on the other fulton visor. Here are 2 pics, next step, prep and paint. I am planning on sanding with 320 to 500, on this just to get the old finish off, but try and reatin the original green under it, for a good base to stick on the aluminum. Not going to paint till spring, don't feel like heating the shop right up now, it's only 45 in there today. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 As long as that middle clip clamps securely to the chrome piece, you should be good to go. Remember Norm's Coupe and his flipped up visor due to wind from a passing vehicle. Quote
55 Fargo Posted November 29, 2010 Author Report Posted November 29, 2010 You gotta loosen the center bar molding, and let the bracket clips seat in good and secure, if tightened you should be good to go. Speaking of Norm, been almost a year without Him, how time flies........Fred Quote
