tysouthwick Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Very good description you should add this to the wikipedia library:D Well Ty, best I can tell a "boo bird" is pretty much same as a "nay sayer"or a "critic". ###revised after Tim's later post......boo bird is a local fan who boos the local sports team at a game I guess they are inclined to say negative things about old cars of others, typically found for sale on ebay. (i.e. they don't like the way certain things were done, don't like the color, nor the interior, and perhaps feel the price is too high given the condition or quality level of the car.) Then, once the "boo bird" voices his opinion, viewers of that opinion are inclined to (a) agree ( disagree © feel it's none of their "d*mn business" and they are overstepping their bounds --as sellers are entitled to say or describe things the best way they can (even if not historically or technically correct.) In summary, the comments by our local "boo birds" result in no changes in how things get done on ebay by sellers. But they do "ruffle the feathers" of some members who take exception to their remarks. P.S. I don't believe any of the proclaimed or closet "boo birds" really intend to make anyone mad or unhappy, and wish to depart from the forum. ***my best interpretation as I could not find a listing for this topic in the wikipedia**** Quote
tysouthwick Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 jd52cranbrook, I hope you do not leave the forum. You have posted lots of great information and to me come across as a very reasonable guy. A while back I quit posting on this forum because I got tired of all the posts about rodding cars. I went to a few other forums but the traffic on them is not 1/20 of what you get here and nowhere near as entertaining. Like you, I have forum members that I am on very good terms with and PM back and forth quite a bit. I also find some forum members set in their ways or they just rub me the wrong way. Now that I am back on the forum I have just decided to ignore posts dealing with rodding cars and to ignore those members I find difficult to take. There are not many but a few. Stick around, use the ignore list feature, and continue to post on the best forum around. As mentioned, I looked elsewhere and I found nothing to compare to P15-D24! Yes Please dont leave Its people like you that make this forum awesome. I joined another forum actually two (HAMB, Street rod or hot rodders, I dont know because Ive only been there once) But NONE compare to this one. All the answers I got were just about hot rodding my truck and I never got ONE piece of good information. And I agree with your comment regarding attacking the seller, just tryin to make a buck lets not beat him over the head, right fellas? Quote
Andydodge Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 Model Cars???...........did someone say MODEL CARS!!.....(thanks Dennis)......I might have a passing interest in that topic..... www.scaleautomobilia.com.au ........lol.......andyd Quote
bearheart Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 I'm too much of a newbee to really know what you guys are talking about. All I can add is that this forum has given me more knowledge and enjoyment than any other one I've ever been on and I have seen less nonsense here than on others too. I knew absolutely nothing about old mopars when I bought mine a year ago. I've still got a lot more to learn but I can't describe how important this forum is to me including the input from each and every member. Please, please don't go. Ignore what bothers you and enjoy the good karma you get for helping guys like me. For every responder that bugs you there are many silent readers that are thankful for every piece of info. Even if the opinions are in conflict that provides thinking points that assist the reader in analyzing his own application. If there are guys noted for a lack of diplomacy your thread gives notice and we can only hope they might reflect on rephrasing thier comments to avoid offending anyone. PEACE! Quote
