oldcarlover Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 My 36 does not come with turn signals, but I feel more secure driving with them. Is there any quality 6 volt kits out there? Quote
Young Ed Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 Well not really a kit but a high quality controller is a signal stat 900. I have one on both my car and truck and they work great. I got them at napa. For a little more you can get one in chrome too if you want to be fancy Quote
greg g Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 Take a look at the taillightking web site. he has switches and wiring diagrams. Adding signals is a do it your self project. Ifs fairly simple, you can add auxiliary lights and wire them or you can change your lamp sockets to accept dual filamet bulbs and add new wires. If your car still 6 V, if so you will need a 6 V flasher and 6V bulbs. I added salvaged motorcycle signal lamps on home meade brackets (with bulbs switched to 6V) to the rear of my car, and switched thefront parking lamps to dual filament bulbs. Lots of discussion on this forum, use the search button and take a look. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 Do buy a better signal unit, for durability. I bought one of those chrome items that sell for about $20 or less, and had problems with the internal works not holding up. So I replaced it with a better quality unit. A lot of people have the less expensive one and hopefully they are holding up OK, just passing along my experience and advice. Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 I also bought one of the cheap imports and was never happy with it . I did use it for ten years though until I found a used one like Eds new one . $5 and a little grease and I like it real well . Quote

bearheart Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 I bought a set of magnetic trailer lights from Harbor Freight, had a coupon for $9.95. ran the wires through the trunk. When driving the lights are on the back and when at a cruise-in/show I just move them into the trunk. Quote
old rat 49 Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 HIJACK: Anyone with a Signal Stat 900. I bought one but it was meant for a Ford Semi and has different color wires. Could someone pop the cover on theirs and tell me with a diagram of position on circuit board where each of the 6 wires go regardless of color. Help would really be appreciated. Quote
