Niel Hoback Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 I saw this at a steam show near Ft. Wayne Thursday. It's a 1938 Minneapolis-Moline tractor made to be driven on the road when needed. For people that couldn't afford a tractor and a car. Quote
RobertKB Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 (edited) Beautiful and very rare! Only about 150 made. http://jalopnik.com/359170/1938-minneapolis+moline-udlx-the-gentlemans-tractor Edited August 22, 2010 by RobertKB Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 Cool vehicle! The front bumper kinda looks like it's from a '34 Ford. Tom Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 Where near Fort Wayne was this steam show? Quote
Flatie46 Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 I noticed they've even tagged it to drive it on the Hwy. Wonder if top gear is a little taller for driving it onthe road? Quote
Niel Hoback Posted August 22, 2010 Author Report Posted August 22, 2010 It definitely has a high gear for road use. The show was at a suburb of Ft. Wayne called New Haven. Maumee Valley Steam Assc., I think. Quote
41/53dodges Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 i think those tractors were capable of at least 35 Quote
greg g Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 (edited) As a tractor it probably wouldn't need any form of registration. Do any states require the registration of tractors? I believe it was called the comfort cab here is a link to a pdf off Miss Minnie touting the features in a factory brochure http://www.google.com/search?q=Minneapolis moline comfort cab Edited August 24, 2010 by greg g Quote
Justin Slingsby Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 I love these things. My grandfather was a big Minneapolis Moline fan. He had 5 of them he used on the farm. The coolest was a G706 with the helper front. That thing was a brute! The Comfort Cabs UDLX's are beautiful tractors, lots of style.
