I love the old fat fender coupes. I just sold a '46 Plymouth Bizzy to a guy that works for me and he is working hard on it.

Here is a link to photos of it. http://www.deadbodyguy.com/wyattPoses.asp

I bought it 3 years ago, put a '72 Nova front clip under it and then I needed 2 back surgeries so it just sat until I practically gave it away to him. He's like family and I think he'll do the old guy proper.

Now, I went out and bought one almost completed since I can't move as well as I use to be able to. It's a '40 Dodge Custom Coupe with Frenched headlights, a '67 327 vette motor, 202 double humps, power everything, Datsun 280Z seats (perfect for this car) and much more.

The original owner had Street Rod City in Detroit build it for him and then he drove it 125 miles and parked it next to his house for almost 5 years. He then asked Street Rod City to sell if for him FAST. I made a crazy cheap offer and he took it. Paint has oxidized, wheels rusted and just many other minor things. I think I stole this car price wise and I'm planning on keeping it for a long time.

Here are some pics. Hope you like them. I LOVE how this car drives, rides and handles. IFS, Posi rear end, shift kit barks them in 2nd with no trouble.

SRC did this car right. It needs some TLC where it just sat outside, but that will come a bit at a time. The wheels are already shiney and the center caps match the car's red color.

DeadBodyGuy,

Welcome to the forum. I'm always a little nervous about a car with no bumpers but that ride is a thing of pure joy.

I've run into you (not your car) in the past, like several years ago, and visited your website then. It will be amusing for me to try to figure out where our paths have crossed and I'll let you know when I remember.

Cool lookin' ride, the paint looks like it'd rub out. Glad to see your back in the Plymouth business.

Yes, I was a regular member a while back when I got my '46 Plymouth Bizzy.

It was just more than I could do after having my back surgery.

Tim and I emailed back and forth for a while.

This old coupe will be fun to drive while I do little things to make it better.

Thanks for the welcomes back and glad to be here with all of you fine gents again.

Randy, let me know if you figure it out. I bought a '65 Rambler Marlin from your neck of the woods a couple of years ago.

First thing I need to find is a driver's door glass. It has power windows but one is broken near the bottom corner. I've had a guy quote me $106 shipped. that sound pretty fair.

I'll keep y'all poster

Hi......and welcome back.

Have you checked with a local glass shop about that window.......

they should be able to make another using the current glass as a

pattern. Could possibly be cheaper.

Weren't you in the body shop business?

Posted

Bob, No I was never in the body shop biz.

I got my nickname because I play dead bodies in tv shows and movies.

I've done over a dozen in the last 3 years. You can just Google "Dead Body Guy" or my name "Chuck Lamb" or see my website http://www.deadbodyguy.com

Thanks for the advice about a local glass shop. I'll check into it.

I love the look of your front end .. mine is going to look a lot like yours .. the grill came out great !!!

The grill is made just pieces of aluminum from an old an old air conditioner bent into shape.

An old TV anntenea would do about the same thing. I can't take any credit. The shop that did the car about 6 years ago did the grill and the french headlights.

Street Rod City In Detroit did most of the work for the original owner. The the guy drove it all of 100 miles or so in 5 years, leaving it to sit outside because he had a lot of other expensive toys.

The owner called Street Rod City telling them he wanted them to sell it for him. I saw the ad. Made a crazy offer even the owner of SRC said the guy wouldn't accept, but ne asked him anyways and the owner said "heck with it, sell it"

So, I hurried up to Detroit the next morning.

Before the next car show I think I'm going to add a polished high rise manifold and a 'Double Sided' air breather.

My chrome alternator has also lost it's luster from sitting for so long, so I'm going to replace it also.
