DeadBodyGuy Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 I love the old fat fender coupes. I just sold a '46 Plymouth Bizzy to a guy that works for me and he is working hard on it. Here is a link to photos of it. http://www.deadbodyguy.com/wyattPoses.asp I bought it 3 years ago, put a '72 Nova front clip under it and then I needed 2 back surgeries so it just sat until I practically gave it away to him. He's like family and I think he'll do the old guy proper. Now, I went out and bought one almost completed since I can't move as well as I use to be able to. It's a '40 Dodge Custom Coupe with Frenched headlights, a '67 327 vette motor, 202 double humps, power everything, Datsun 280Z seats (perfect for this car) and much more. The original owner had Street Rod City in Detroit build it for him and then he drove it 125 miles and parked it next to his house for almost 5 years. He then asked Street Rod City to sell if for him FAST. I made a crazy cheap offer and he took it. Paint has oxidized, wheels rusted and just many other minor things. I think I stole this car price wise and I'm planning on keeping it for a long time. Here are some pics. Hope you like them. I LOVE how this car drives, rides and handles. IFS, Posi rear end, shift kit barks them in 2nd with no trouble. SRC did this car right. It needs some TLC where it just sat outside, but that will come a bit at a time. The wheels are already shiney and the center caps match the car's red color. Quote
normanpitkin Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 now all you need to do is put all the trim back on......ha! And maybe the wipers... Quote
PatS.... Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 I like it...looks well done and fun to drive!!! Quote

randroid Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 DeadBodyGuy, Welcome to the forum. I'm always a little nervous about a car with no bumpers but that ride is a thing of pure joy. I've run into you (not your car) in the past, like several years ago, and visited your website then. It will be amusing for me to try to figure out where our paths have crossed and I'll let you know when I remember. -Randy Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 Hi DBG, Welcome to the best forum on the WWW. Lot of experienced people here to help if needed. Any advice is welcome. Nicely done 40 Tom Quote
Flatie46 Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 Cool lookin' ride, the paint looks like it'd rub out. Glad to see your back in the Plymouth business. Quote
rockable Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 I like it even if it does have a Chebby motor. As you said, you won't see them at every cruise in! Quote
DeadBodyGuy Posted July 4, 2010 Author Report Posted July 4, 2010 (edited) Yes, I was a regular member a while back when I got my '46 Plymouth Bizzy. It was just more than I could do after having my back surgery. Tim and I emailed back and forth for a while. This old coupe will be fun to drive while I do little things to make it better. Thanks for the welcomes back and glad to be here with all of you fine gents again. Randy, let me know if you figure it out. I bought a '65 Rambler Marlin from your neck of the woods a couple of years ago. First thing I need to find is a driver's door glass. It has power windows but one is broken near the bottom corner. I've had a guy quote me $106 shipped. that sound pretty fair. I'll keep y'all poster buds chuck PS: My latest movie is hacked all over the web free. It's called ThanksKilling and if you like campy, horror comedies, you'll love this one about a demonic TURKEY! Edited July 4, 2010 by DeadBodyGuy Quote
DeadBodyGuy Posted July 18, 2010 Author Report Posted July 18, 2010 Well, I cleaned 'Andy' up and entered him in his first car show oday. It was at a Hooters and we won one of 30 People's Choice trophies. Very happy. Quote
dezeldoc Posted July 18, 2010 Report Posted July 18, 2010 Congrats! looks a little better cleaned up. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted July 18, 2010 Report Posted July 18, 2010 Hi......and welcome back. Have you checked with a local glass shop about that window....... they should be able to make another using the current glass as a pattern. Could possibly be cheaper. Weren't you in the body shop business? Quote
DeadBodyGuy Posted July 18, 2010 Author Report Posted July 18, 2010 Bob, No I was never in the body shop biz. I got my nickname because I play dead bodies in tv shows and movies. I've done over a dozen in the last 3 years. You can just Google "Dead Body Guy" or my name "Chuck Lamb" or see my website http://www.deadbodyguy.com Thanks for the advice about a local glass shop. I'll check into it. buds chuck Quote
Robert Horne Posted July 18, 2010 Report Posted July 18, 2010 I bought all new glass for my 38 Coupe at a local glass shop . It was priced very reasonable. The windshield was $80, and I do not remember what the smaller glass cost. Quote

DeadBodyGuy Posted July 18, 2010 Author Report Posted July 18, 2010 Yeah, I've been on the TODAY show 3 times. ABC and CBS early shows once each. Plus, Jay Leno and many others. It's been really fun. Thanks for remembering buds chuck Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted July 19, 2010 Report Posted July 19, 2010 OOOps, sorry Chuck.......i had you in the wrong "body" business. Quote
bobjob55 Posted July 19, 2010 Report Posted July 19, 2010 I love the look of your front end .. mine is going to look a lot like yours .. the grill came out great !!! Quote
DeadBodyGuy Posted July 19, 2010 Author Report Posted July 19, 2010 The grill is made just pieces of aluminum from an old an old air conditioner bent into shape. An old TV anntenea would do about the same thing. I can't take any credit. The shop that did the car about 6 years ago did the grill and the french headlights. Street Rod City In Detroit did most of the work for the original owner. The the guy drove it all of 100 miles or so in 5 years, leaving it to sit outside because he had a lot of other expensive toys. The owner called Street Rod City telling them he wanted them to sell it for him. I saw the ad. Made a crazy offer even the owner of SRC said the guy wouldn't accept, but ne asked him anyways and the owner said "heck with it, sell it" So, I hurried up to Detroit the next morning. buds chuck Quote
DeadBodyGuy Posted July 28, 2010 Author Report Posted July 28, 2010 Before the next car show I think I'm going to add a polished high rise manifold and a 'Double Sided' air breather. My chrome alternator has also lost it's luster from sitting for so long, so I'm going to replace it also. Quote
