Terry in Bozrah Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 Looking to Buy a good working Temperature Gauge for my 46 PW. Gauge also the same as 39-47 pilot-house trucks? I have second series temp Gauge to trade or $$? Thanks Terry Quote
HanksB3B Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 with invisible ink, is there any problem with the actual function of the various gauges? The faces can be restored from a good photo. Hank Quote
Bradley S. Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 The sender can be replaced if that is the problem. I have fixed two. Here is the procedure. http://www.ply33.com/Repair/tempgauge Quote
Terry in Bozrah Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 I would like to try that but a little nervise about doing it? Not to good a sodering? I don't want to screw up both gauges....... Quote
Young Ed Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 Terry that does look just like the gauges in my 46 pickup. Can you just switch the face from the other one you have? I was able to do that with a 46-48 chrysler gauge to put in my 48 plymouth. Quote
Terry in Bozrah Posted June 21, 2010 Author Report Posted June 21, 2010 I printed out the instruction and will try it out this weekend. I have a old hardware store down the road that will hook me up with every I think I need to do this? I'll try a test run on a short piece and see what happens. Let's hope for the best? Thanks guys Terry Quote
Bradley S. Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 Make sure you flux the parts good but only flux what you want solder to stick to. Oh, one last thing. When you are ready to solder, have the wife stand about 3 ft away from you with a full 10 lb CO2 fire estinguisher, pin pulled, finger on trigger. Quote

If the bulb is in ice then there should be little or no ether vapor to ignite. If you are using an electrical soldering iron rather than one with a flame there should be no source of ignition. Quote
Bradley S. Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 I'm sorry, I just couild not resist...... Quote
