It's official... I have sold my '50...

On second thought, you and I still have our Chevy pickups and if you ever get to AZ, I'll let you drive PLYWOOD, just cause you have Mopar fluid in your veins. I really do know how you feel, after I lost most of my money and had to see three show quality 55 Chevys drive down the street, away from my house, in 2003.

Charlie, still happy to have a PLYWOOD, after all

Like everyone else I'm sorry to hear you had to sell you plymouth, but I hope you're website will stay up because there's too much useful information there (I'm not finished building my plymouth yet). Any pics of your chevy pickup as I'm also an advance design owner I'd love to see em.

Pete,

As I said when I joined this forum: your car and your inputs to this site were the inspiration for me to get my 52 Cranbrook..I can imagine it's very hard for you and your sons to let the 50 go. It's a bit like finishing a good book--satisfying to finish the book but still not wanting the experience to end.

Thanks again for all the advice and pictures

Pete....sorry to hear the Plymouth is sold - glad that it will help you out

with other things. Have enjoyed your posts and helpful information. It

was a pleasure meeting you and your son in Tulsa in '07.....you guys

had quite an interesting trip. Hope all goes well for you and your family

and maybe someday you'll find another interesting old Mopar to work on.

As others have said - stay in touch.

Bob

One fun memory of the Tulsa trip - you and Don saying you were going

to send the lunch bill to Norm.

hey pete,

i'm sad right now!

just got up and turned the computer on and then i have to read this...:(

when i sold my opel rekord that i had for 10 years and spent countless hours and funds in re4storing and modifying, i shed a tear, too. sometimes things have to be passed on.

but hey, you'll see you can't get along without toys and i hope you'll be back here as soon as this darn checkbook allows it;)

thanks for putting me here on this forum and thanks for all the great info

you have shared here and on your website!

all the best from berlin,

fréderic

I've spent hours reading and re-reading so much of your website info, so thanks for sharing what you did with that car. Things never stay the same, and family always comes first.

Please make sure you keep tabs on the shenannigans going on in the forum, you input would be missed if you simply disappeared.

I'm sure there will be other cars in your future! For what its worth, there were times when I tossed up exactly how much it would have cost me to ship your car to Australia!! - not to be :D

Hope the new owner shows up here sometime.

Take care

Rob.

Here's a couple shots of my '53. Still wearing the paint that was applied by the previous owner 40 years ago... (or what is left of it...)

Bought it with lawn-mower money when I was 14. I drove it stock for about 10 years, then did a 350/th350 in '91, MII front end in '94, and haven't touched it since other than using it for a driver on a regular basis. It is in need of a total make-over, but probably not until my oldest son get's his driver's license in 4 more years. I'll pass the torch to him if he wants it.

I'm not so sure there has ever been more BULL in one photo before... LOL

The Tulsa trip was the culmination of nearly a decade of work on our Plymouth. I had heard about the event years before, and decided to make it a goal to drive the car across the country to attend. Turned out to be the greatest road trip ever, especially with my 9 (at the time) year old son along for the ride. Neither of us will ever forget it...

Find a gravel pit or some such off road spot and get him a few miles now...he'll want it later. My dad had me out driving on country roads at 9 but that was a different time. Gotta be off road on private property now.

The experience was burned into my brain and when I think of my dad, I think of those days.

I plan to leave the website up for the time being. I'll probably do one last update, and leave it there for reference. I still get email two or three times a week from guys all over the planet with questions about the car...

Pete - I just want to say that I hoep things get better for you. Your website and videos is what has convinced me to hot rod a 265 and toss in one of my pickups. It will be a long journey for me because anything worth doing is worth doing right, but your car was one of the inspirational stepping stones on my path. Thank you for that.

Pete, congrats on the sale (he says as he pauses for a moment of silence) .... my best to you and the family. I hope the '50 Convertible idea down the road comes to pass. I'll keep my eyes open. Hope you still hang around the forum a little.

You would have liked it a lot better before i started selling off a lot of it! the fender is my 48 Chrysler Saratoga.

Here is a pic of the way the 48 3100 is as of yesterday, we got it running today, so on to the body work!

Re: 50 Plymouth convertible.

Jim Hines Auto Wreckers in Mountain Home ID has one in his yard...it's rough but might be worth a look if it's close.

I'm in Mountain Home four days a week... but I think they sold the vert a few years ago. I had thoughts of buying it way back, and it was already gone. Still on their website though...

Pete, I glad you finally sold your car, sorry that you had to. I was in the same situation when my kids were young and had to do the same thing with an early 60's VW bus with sunroof and porthole windows.

Someday, you find your kids are grown up and your financial situation will be better and you can get a new toy. That's the situation I was in when I bought my '35.

Enjoy those kids while they are growing up. You'll have time and money for another old car but you'll only have one shot to raise you kids.:)

Good luck and I hope we'll hear from you in the future.
