Annual Mileage Tally On Your Vintage Mopar(s)

Hey all, how many miles are we putting on our vintage Mopars each year, or driving season, and why?

What makes you drive a certain amount of miles annually, whether by choice, or by what Mother Nature dictates.

In my part of Canada, we generally drive collector cars, from May until October, this can be earlier, or extended, again dictated by Mother Nature.

This season so far, since about March 25th, I have put on close to a 1000 miles, haven't really gone anywhere, but still drove a 1000 miles.

I expect to rack up about 3000 miles total this year, and again ain't really going anyhwere. My miles are 80% highway miles.......Fred

Since I can't exceed certain mileage re insurance, I put between 1999 and 3776 last summer included the trip to Maryland which was close to 1100 miles for the round trip and the running around. But I only put about 4 K on my driver, 3K on the wife's and 1500K on the beater towmobile.

Guess we are way behind the average mileage curve. If and when I go to work its 2.5 miles each way. usually make a tank of gas last a month.

I don't have much time to drive the Plymouth during the week, but every Sunday my wife and I drive the car to church. The drive is about 5 miles round trip. We try to take Sunday drives in the afternoon around town. I always look forward to driving it. In the process of driving the car to the Fort Gibson ok. car show this June. My home is in Elk City, Ok. I will stop in OKC to pick up my Grandson who is 12 years old,he really likes the 47, and the shows. M

I 'd have to guess around 5000/year lately, and the '55 is my primary car. Seeing as how I don't have to drive "to" my job anymore(I'm a stay at home dad) I just drive on the "job". I drive with my precious cargo, to the grocery store, playgrounds, birthday parties, parts stores and car shows. Occasionally I get to drive into the city to see friends. A couple of years(before unemployment) I put nearly 10,000/year.

The Model A is a different story. Probably well under a thousand this first year...

Fred,

When Pigiron was my daily driver I'd put 3-5,000 miles a year on it, but that's when I lived in a small mountain town and rarely left it. Now that I'm a flat lander I expect to double that once it's back on the road.

Not sure of miles driven during summer months......probably not over

1,000. Usually just short trips to local/area cruise-ins and shows, plus

the occasional Sunday drive.

I think the longest trip I took last summer was about 75 miles one way.

The state antique license plate rules say 2,000 miles allowed per year

for shows, educational events and such. The insurance company pretty

much follows the state rule.

Last year I put approx 2500 miles on my Plymouth, she was layed up for awhile as I had to get another tranny from Fat Fendered Relics in June. The longest trip she made was our weekly 40 mile round trip to Napanoch, NY to the weekly cruise in. I try to drive the car every month of the year if the roads are dry in the winter time, in my old brain, I am keeping all systems go by doing so. I have approx 500 miles on her since Jan. The engine is tired, the ten year old paint job is beginning to show its age, but by gosh, I sure do enjoy driving it, especially around the back roads of the area. Still get lots of high fives as I do so:)

Best I can figure is that I put about 7.5K - 8k on mine in the past 12 months. My Odometer does not work so don't know for sure. Right at 30 mile round trip to work, times 3 days a week to account for the days traveling, plus 860 round trip to the HAMB Drags, 600 round trip to the Lone Star Round Up, plus another 25 miles a week misc running gets me to the 7.5K mark.

21 miles last year.

But, trailered it home from the in-laws last June and spent 2 months getting it running.(had not seen the light of day in 10 years)

Much credit goes to this forum and its members.

Spent the winter redoing the brakes and reading this forum.

I am at 35 miles this spring, found out yesterday that my brake lights are not working now, traced it back to a the brake light switch, on order.

Have a Show and Shine coming up in June, 15 miles out of town. Also working up the courage to go to a Car Show 60 miles from home in September, in-laws home town.

Hoping to average 1000 miles in future years.

Thanks to all members of this group

At inspection time

now reads) 50,154 === 932

--- May 09) 49,222 === 501

--- May 08) 48,721 === 975

--- May 07) 47,746

Only about 25 miles so far this year.

Driving it to work occasionally, puts the majority of miles on J Edgar.

With the exception of towing it home, the car has only been more than 25 miles away from my house once, or maybe twice, since I have owned it. Sounds like 1948 all over again:)

Whats with this yearly inspection, is this a New York State DMV deal...

Shel,

I basically am in the same driving pattern as you with my Plymouth. When we lived about 30 miles south of Utica, I drove the Plymouth up to Camden to a car show, then we drove up to Cleveland to a car show at the Stone Barn Castle, maybe 50 to 60 miles one way.

Since we moved down here in '93, the farthest I have driven the Old Plymouth is to Rhinebeck in '99 which is about 60 miles one way. Most of the trips in the old girl are local, but most everyday I put some miles on her

Bob, my ventures are similar usually in the 10 to 25 mile range for the most part, 50 to 60 miles 1 way about the limits so far.

I am thinking of going for another ride real quick, its'about 80 here today......Fred
