tom'sB2B Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 Hi everyone I'm in the need of two rear axle shafts with the 16 spline pattern. If anyone has an extra set or knows where I can get them, I would appreciate it. Thank you Tom Quote
Merle Coggins Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 I may have a set. I'd have to double check the spline count though. Quote

70rtse440 Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 I have a 8 3/4 out of my B3C do you think they would be the same? Haven't pulled the axles out yet . It is a complete rear Quote
Merle Coggins Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 I have a 8 3/4 out of my B3C do you think they would be the same? Haven't pulled the axles out yet . It is a complete rear If it's the original axle it's not an 8-3/4. It may look like one, but it's considerably smaller. The axles shafts I have are out of the axle. I haven't had a chance to get out to the shed and dig them out yet. I'm hoping to get out there today. Merle Quote
tom'sB2B Posted April 29, 2010 Author Report Posted April 29, 2010 Here is a question. The truck is a 1950 B2B. The axle shafts that I pulled have a 16 spline count. The Don Bunn book states that they changed the spline count from 10 to 16 in 1952. Does that mean that I have a later model axle under my truck? I had assumed that I had the origanal 108", now I'm not so sure. Quote
tom'sB2B Posted April 29, 2010 Author Report Posted April 29, 2010 the axle shafts that I pulled out are roughly 32 3/4" Quote
Young Ed Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 What is wrong with the ones you pulled out? Quote
Merle Coggins Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 Here you go Tom. These came out of a B2C. I also looked in my parts manual and it shows all generations of B series 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks use the same part number "Drive Shaft" at 32-3/4" length. These are also 16 spline count. Send me a PM or email to luv2wingit@sbcglobal.net with shipping details. As with all of my spare parts, I am offering them at no charge. I just ask that you reimburse me for shipping unless I can fit it into a small or medium Flat Rate box at the post office, and I don't think these will fit. Once you get the parts, and if you are satisfied with them, I would ask that you consider making a donation to my favorite charity, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Donations can be made through my fundraising web page at www.firstgiving.com/merle or you can make arrangements to mail a check if you wish. Thanks you, Merle P.S. Ed raises a good question. What's wrong with the ones you have? Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 I shipped a set of those 16 spline axles in a piece of 4" PVC pipe. Woked great! 16 Spline are for 53 and later. Bob Quote
tom'sB2B Posted April 30, 2010 Author Report Posted April 30, 2010 Merle They look like they will do the trick. I will send you an email with my info. The guy I bought the truck from, drove the truck with the breaks stuck and they seized-up. The guy had an extra set of right/left rear hubs and axles. I got over zealous and trashed the threads while trying to get the hubs off. I had no luck with getting the hubs off. I finally resorted in cutting the hubs up to get to the backing plate. Oh well, I thought, at least I have an extra set of hubs and axles. The extra axles ended up being 10 spline instead of sixteen. Hence my dilemma. With a lot of work, I might be able to use the old ones, but I would rather have a pair that are in good shape. Its not the first mistake or the last mistake I'll pay for I'm sure. Knowing that a child with a brain tumer may benifit makes it less painful. Tom Quote
