Young Ed Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 I've noticed over the past few seasons my ground cable in the p15 grows fuzz rather quickly. Today while hooking it back up after the speedometer repair(I actually remembered to unhook it ) I noticed what is possibly a crack at the base of the post. Is this possible? Anyone heard of this? Would this cause my symptom of an always fuzzy battery cable? Quote
aero3113 Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 (edited) I think it would, the battery can be venting out of the crack onto the cable causing the ground cable to corrode. Edited April 20, 2010 by aero3113 Quote
greg g Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 It might be a sign of a gas leak around the post. clean it up put some black silicone around the post and see it that helps. Some of the growth can be related to an unkown current draw. Over torquing the clamp can move the post eought o break the seal around it. Quote
Young Ed Posted April 20, 2010 Author Report Posted April 20, 2010 Greg remember my crash? this is the same battery. I thought it had survived but perhaps it didnt survive as well as I thought. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 I suspect you just diagnosed the real problem right there. Quote

Young Ed Posted April 20, 2010 Author Report Posted April 20, 2010 Tim recommendations on what to clean it with and what type of epoxy? I plan to buy a new one for the 48 and downgrade this one to the 51. Quote
greg g Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 I have some marine epoxy that seems to work well, Like JB weld, Its in a dispenser that looks like a syringe. You squeeze it to get the 2 equal parts to mix. Clean it with some all purpose stuff. Quote
