greg g Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 Because we didn't really get much snow compared to some of our northern neighbor counties, but after seeing the pics from Purdue I figured what the heck. I haven't been driving the VW much cause I have been using the 4 wheel drive of my Jeep instead of shoveling or snow blowing. But after the last two storms, I had to break out the blower. And yes there is some snow from the snow blower on top of the car but most of it was blown over the car. I wonder if Pyramid power will take some miles off the DUB. The stuff on the Subie is last nigh't meager contribution. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 Greg, Looks like you could also use a roof rake to take it away from the eves of the house. Otherwise, when that stuff starts to melt, it may cause an ice jamb and back up under the shingles and come into the house, even if you have a water barrier under them. Water barriers only go about 3 feet up and that's really not enough when the snow gets that deep up there. Quote
Young Ed Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 Hey Norm its nice and warm today- 40s. Will probably head your way in a day or 2. Quote
greg g Posted February 19, 2007 Author Report Posted February 19, 2007 Thanks Norm, when I put the new roof on about 6 years ago I went with 8 feet of membraine. Roofer though I was nuts, But it has paid off. Quote
Young Ed Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 Greg a friend of mine who does construction says he always coats the whole roof. Guess it doesnt add that much to the cost and then you know its sealed up. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 Ed, Was 42 here today. We're getting the heat wave now too. Greg, My brother in law went with 6 feet over his family room. However, he still has to rake when it gets too much snow up there. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 Hey Norm its nice and warm today- 40s. Will probably head your way in a day or 2. Already here Ed. It was 40 on my way home this evening. Didn't check the temp in the heat of the day, but it was rather balmy outside. Merle Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 Merle, I had to run some errands this afternoon about 4 PM. Had the window all the way down on the van, letting the fresh 40 degree air in. Felt real good to get all that fresh air again while riding in the car. I even had a tape playing with 50/60's rock & roll music (hardly ever play the car radio). Wife thinks I'm crazy riding with the window down at 35 & 40 degrees, says it's too cold. However, I do have the heater on full blast so the car actually stays nice and toasty on a nice sunny day, even with the window down. Supposed to be warm all week now. Quote
M. Cross Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Was 70 here yesterday, and I noticed grass is growing already, dang it. I guess winter is over in South Central Tennessee. We'll have our 1 week of Spring, the 90! Regard! Mark Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Greg, Get ready for another round. We now have a blizzard watch for tomorrow night and it's headed in your direction. Guess people in western Wisconsin and Minnesota are under a heavy snow watch tonight and tomorrow. We could get up to a foot of snow near the lake. Guess west of here in central Wisconsin they are expecting up to 18 inches. Looks like Mother Nature was just teasing us the past week with the warm mid to high 40's temperatures. Winter continues for now. Quote
Young Ed Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Yup the storms a comin they claim. Almost 9 and nothing yet..... Quote
