Steering column has been removed. Truck is completely apart and the body and parts are at the sandblasters. Having removed the cab I found a poorly fabricated bracket for the clutch/brake pedal. Looking for a original bracket or a picture of one so I can fabricate a new.

Which bracket are you refering to? Do you have a standard clutch or Fluid Drive?

The standard clutch setup has the pedals directly on the clutch fork shaft with an adjustment bracket on the clutch pedal. The Fluid Drive bell housing has the pedals mounted on a seperate shaft ahead of the clutch fork shaft with a link connecting the fork to the pedal. On this setup there is a bracket that supports the pedal shaft. Is this what you are looking at? If so I think I just saw one in a spare parts box.

Do any of these help? My set up is for a 51 B3B fluid drive, 3-speed on the column.

I have the 4 speed floor shift. The bracket now on the truck has one end bolted to the bellhousing running across toward the frame but is not attached to the frame. There are rubber bumpers attached to this bracket for the clutch and brake. Hope this helps.

Can you take some pictures and post them here for us to see? I can't get a mental image from your discription.

Here is a picture of an engine with a standard clutch setup and a 4 speed. You can see the pedals mounted on the fork shaft with no other linkage or brackets.

And Jim's pictures show the pedals on a Fluid Drive bell housing. That is how my truck is too.

This is the only decent picture I have of that area.

When you say that there are bumpers on the bracket I have to wonder if someone made up that bracket as a pedal stop. If that's the case it shouldn't be there. The pedals bump up against the floor as their stops.

Here's a non fluid drive truck bell housing showing the one piece clutch fork/pedal shaft. Ignore the gas pedal actuator.;)

After looking at the pictures apparently the last owner added this as a pedal stop. I would assume the reason was to hold them in line and away from the floorpans. The pedals were nicely aligned with his idea. Is alignment and noise with floor boards an issue with these trucks? Maybe its a good modification?

Yes the bushings and shaft they are on can get worn. To me it wouldn't feel like driving an old truck without the thunk of the pedals hitting the floor board.

I certainly understand the clunk and noise. In my younger years growing up in Pennsylvania as loggers, we had a 48 or 49 Dodge 1 1/2 ton with a A boom with winch that was used to pick up logs for loading onto the truck. I have many hours in this old clunker and developed my love for these old dodge trucks. My other restored car is a 1964 dodge B Body 440 4 speed car that I purchased new in Olean, Ny. Just finished the restore on it this past June. Now the 52 truck will add to my toys. Hope to finish before year end.

Merle I posted pictures in my photo gallery of the fabricated bracket. Included two other pictures of my truck before and after teardown. This was the first time for pictures and was unsure how to post as you did in your posts.

Where is your photo gallery? On the DEPTCA site, or here? I can't seem to find it.

Never mind... I found it.

Yes, this is definetly home made.

Looks like a good idea though. Looks like you could take up some of the slack in the brake pedal travel.

I finally gave up on trying to quiet the pedal rattles on my Dodge pickup and several years (20+) I quickly fabbed up a double pedal adjustable stop. The noise drove me crazy when I used to drive it all the time. Didn't like them rubbing against the floor boards, even with the new pedal draft seals, still after awhile they rattled -not now!

Also a picture of a new Midland 6" brake booster I just put in- makes a nice easy more powerful brake application.
