42dodgeguy Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 Guys I'm in a quandry. I'm trying to determine what is the correct exposure diameter on the Twilite #915283 headlight lenses that fit 33 Plymouths, and also early 30's G.M.C. trucks two resources list it as 7 3/4", but one lists it as 8 9/32" which is the same as 32-35 Chevrolet lenses. I believe that the 8 9/32" dimension is correct, as I have a lens that is that size, and it has the DCPD mopar logo in the glass. It also doesn't make sense to me that G.M. would put one size lens in Chev's. and another in G.M.C. as they are so similar, and it would be more costly. I apologise for straying away from the P-15 D-24 focus, but am clutching at straws, and thinking that one of you guys might also have a 33 Ply. in your collection? Thanks in advance to anyone that's willing to measure, or weigh in on this topic...Mike Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 I have no clue here but should you venture to the AACA and post this I am sure you will have the answer in quick time...they have a very good activity over there and live for these challenges... http://forums.aaca.org/ Quote
42dodgeguy Posted February 28, 2010 Author Report Posted February 28, 2010 Tim: Thanks for the advice, but I've been to AACA, and they advised me that since 33 Plymouths weren"t true classics by their definition, that I might get better results somewhere else, soooo.....Hopefully someone here might help?...Mike Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 (edited) could you care to paste a link to that thread...that seems so unlike that forum..did you paste this in the Plymouth section? or on the general discussion page? there is a post there by 42guys on that subject and the responses were quite positive from what I read.. desoto1939 Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 I am a member of the AACA for over 20+ years. I would like to know what the AACA send back to you that they can not answer you question because the 33 plymouth is not a classic. It does not matter what car you have so long as if is an antque. I personally know the President of the AACA a Mr Mike Jones and would like to bring this to his attention. This not how the AACA soul dbe treating memebrs and future members. They have an extensive library of information and someone on the AACA forum should be able to answer your question. Please get back to me. Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com 484-431-8157 Quote
desoto1939 Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 Dear 42Dodgeguy, I looked onthe AACA forum and you had posted your question directly inthe Classic Car Section of the form. Yes you 33 Ply is not considered as part of the classic car club marques, This are the Big Buck cars v16 Cadallac, Pierce Arrow, Dusenberg, etc You should be post your question directly in the Plymouth and GMAC and Chevy sections since this would be more poited to the members that have these cars and can answer your direct question. Getting the question posted intot he correct car maker would help to get the question to the correct members. Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com Quote

42dodgeguy Posted February 28, 2010 Author Report Posted February 28, 2010 Guys: I'm kind of a neophyte at using these forums, and really didn't want to get involved in any contreversy about protocols. I'm just looking to gain a little knowledge. I apologise if I have unwittingly stirred any pots, and I appreciate any and all advice on how to proceed. Thanks to all who have responded...Mike Quote

Actually more polite than I expected. I strongly suspect that "ply33" will measure the lenses on his car and post the results to you when he gets back. Quote
TodFitch Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 Just as I suspected, "ply33" has returned and responded to your original post at: http://forums.aaca.org/f169/help-33-plymouth-g-m-c-278062.html#post738415 It is just uncanny how well I can predict that guy... Funny thing is I just got back in town too. Quote
