greg g Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 Because of the shaped headlamps, it is likely a 38/39, but who knows the brand of the light colored coupe. Quote
Young Ed Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Reg I dont think mercs came out until 39 Quote
Niel Hoback Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Second guess; 36 Lincoln Zephyr. One-piece flat windshield, 37 was two piece. Quote
Ken Bartz Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 This is a 1937 Lincoln Zepher 2 door 6 passenger coupe of which 5199 made with a flat windshield. The 1937 Lincoln model K had the split windshield. In 1936 Lincoln did not make a Zephyr coupe. Quote
greg g Posted February 18, 2010 Author Report Posted February 18, 2010 (edited) So this was a 2 or three year old used car, whaddya think it would be going for 6/700 dollars???? there was one on the web in 08 for sale for 79K. Thought it might have been Zephyr but wasn't sure. Beautiful car. You sure it was a 6 pass and not laid out like a business coupe? Thought it might have been a 37 Studebaker Dictator coupe also except for the headlamps. Edited February 18, 2010 by greg g Quote
Mustang6147 Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 (edited) Here is what it is... First of all, that photo was taken in California, in 1940. The diesel loco depicted behind it Debut around 1939 by EMD predisessor to EMC which was a division of GM. The vehicle in question is a very rare 1937 Lincoln Zephyr Club Coup. It was powered by a V-12. The sales pitch for that engine, since it ran so smooth is, The salesmen would stand a nickel on end, and it would stay. Very smooth engine. From left to right; #1-Black Car; 1933 Chrysler Sedan #2-White Car; 1937 Lincoln Zephyr #3-Gray Car ; 1936 Dodge D2 Sedan #4-Black Car; 1935 Ford Sedan ( In that year the sedan sold for $620.00 the convertible for &750.00) There is a little debate about if the lincoln is a late 36 model, but 37 is more likely Edited February 19, 2010 by Mustang6147 Quote
Niel Hoback Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 The black car onn the left end is a 34 Chevy. Quote
Paul Hoffmeyer Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 The gray car between the Zephyr and the '35 Ford is not a Dodge or any kind of Mopar, it's a '38 Chevy! Quote
