  1. Harbor Freight makes a neon light that is a great spark checker. The neon lights when there is a spark available. However this very thing has happened to me. I recall that the carb float was set wrong and the intake manifold was immediately flooded. Have a look down the carb and see if there is gas in there. Or take out a plug to see if it is covered with gas. No mater how much you crank the engine it will never "POP".
  2. The outside rocker panels I got from RockAuto have all of the right curves. You still have to cut the square holes for the rocker panel moulding clips. RA part numbers CCC29502L and CCC29502R, $31.79 each, 290012, $23.79 each for the inside rocker panels. I noticed that they have the floor pans also. All fit 1949 thru 1952.
  3. I purchased the outside rocker panels from RockAuto and they fit very nice. The inside rocker panels I made on a sheetmetal brake, not too difficult as only two bends are needed.. The floor I made from flat sheetmetal stock and form fitted them as needed. Have fun with your project. Ken
  4. Where there is heat there is resistance. Clean up the corrosion.

  6. Phil, See your personal messages. Contact me and I will help you with your brakes. I'm also in central WI.
  7. What a great idea, Ed. I'll go to get some tomorrow. What good ideas are there for the petal draft shields?
  8. I am working on a 1952 Plymouth and have replaced the petal floor pan. What should I use for a gasket around the opening? What is a source of the clutch and brake pedal draft seals? I thought of making one but was stuck for what material to use. Thank you for your help?
  9. Have a look. How easily people forget! http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=KTb6qdPu8JE
  10. I have manifolds for a 1951/52 Plymouth, 218 cu in engine. You would need manifolds from 1941 and back, 201 cu in engines.
  11. Try these: http://www.frenchlakeautoparts.com/ West of Minneapolis, MN http://www.jacksautoranch.com/frame.htm Watertrown, WI OR find one in your area with this web site: http://www.roadkillcustoms.com/hot-rods-rat-rods/Junk-Yards-Salvage-Yards-Auto-Recyclers.asp
  12. These cars came standard with a Presto-matic transmission. You did not say what body style it is. The club coupe had 20,050 made, 4-dr sedan-78,199 made, 2-dr Newport- 9,925. Windsor was the 2nd upgrade style. Base car was the Royal, then the Windsor, then Saratoga, last the New Yorker. Number on the 6 cylinder engine should be C48*xxxxxx, the 8 cylinder were C49*xxxxxx.
  13. Neto, I have the lower splash guards installed on my 1940 Plymouth. I'm not sure of their purpose, but keeping the engine clean would be one of them. The biggest thing that would be affected would be the air flow around the engine. The Plymouth engineers perhaps though the shield would help. I have painted them black. Ken
  14. There is one on eBay right now that is in Milwaukee, WI $475 I know the seller. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380257867150&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
  15. Neal Riddle has an ad in the Plymouth Bulletin for decals 1937 to 1954. seaplym@hotmail.com What model and year is your woodie? Do you have any idea of the model number of the heater? I might have a heater red tag.
  16. Check out this auction for 49 thru 52 floor braces. Maybe he makes them for the P15's. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/REAR-FLOOR-PAN-FLOOR-BRACE-DODGE-PLYMOUTH-1949-52-NEW-/200490601554?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2eae2bcc52
  17. These hinges are NOT interchanagable from right to left. So, for the chrome shell there are four different items (right, upper & lower and left, upper & lower)
  18. Skrambler, I took a picture of one of the hinges on my car. Also of them before plating. Yes, the cast chrome plated piece is just a cover over the hinge. The strap hinge its self has three mounting holes on each side (6 screws per hinge) I could not find a picture of the strap hinge, only the cast cover. The cast pieces have a tapped threaded holes. The screws come thru the trunk lid, the hinge and then threaded into the cast piece. Yes, they are side specific as there is a slight angle on them. I do not know of any substitute. I recall that there were part numbers on the cast parts. I've looked at the 1940 Plymouth parts manual and did not find this hinge.
  19. Skrambler, Here is a photo of one of my external 1940 trunk hinge just back from bring chrome plated. These are very difficule to find. Once I saw a pair on eBay.....once! If you wish I could take another photo of the hinge on the car. I had often thought about figuring out how to make a pattern and then have them cast with new metal. The problem then is the internal hinge itself as these are just hinge covers.
  20. Joe, Take the generator back along with the voltage regulator and have it tested "on the bench" to verify their operation together. I've done this with my local alt/gen repair guy. He should have a test setup that spins the generator and then puts a load on it to see if the pair works as suppose to. Once proper operation is verified take it back to your car. Check your wiring before applying power to it.
  21. I used hammer, dolly and the stainless steel shrinking disk to remove the dent on this 52 Plymouth rear fender. I have used it on other small dents with sucess. I got mine on eBay for $40. Wray Schelin is the inventor of this tool. Just do a search for "shrinking disk" on eBay and you will find his auction. I got the 9 inch one. Don't think you can get a stainless steel cookware pot lid to do the same work. Not so. His disks are .060" thick. Pot lids are .035" at most and will bend easily. Then went to Harbor Freight and purchased a 9' grinder to use with the shrinking disk (using the 20% off coupon). I thought a buffer would do the job but it is too slow RPM.
  22. Bill, I have a horn relay from a 1940 Plymouth.
  23. Hollander Interchange Manual say it will not fit. However a large screwdriver for prying and a BFH it might..........
  24. Young Ed, I did send you a PM that we were going to be in your area. Perhaps I did not send it correctly. The 52 Plymouth in the one picture did have a overdrive in it. Who ever took it did not get the OD cable nor the OD relay. I did.....
