Those are just.................odd. Notice how high the Plymouth is sitting? the rear tires look huge, and the fronts appear normal but the body is way up off of them. That would be cool to take to a cruise.

Faschinating web page! Thanks for sharing.

I suppose Plymouths were not very common hearses.

The 1948 Chrysler combination hearse is the most impressive, but still I find the '62 Pontiac & '65 Newport ambulances the most beautiful (=Most desirable for me). The P15 Landau hearse is sure ghastly, would I dare to say, ugly...

Was looking for town sedan pictures and stumbled on these hearses.

A month ago I saw a picture of a blue 46-48 chrysler town sedan with the longer straight 8 hood and fenders, it threw me off for a while then I realized it wasn't your run of the mill windsor with suicide doors. Sadly I forgot to save the picture and have been searching for it, no luck only d24 models so far.

You don't see many Plymouth funeral cars.

One funeral home in my town used Chryslers in the '40s and '50s,

including the factory built limo which was longer.

Plymouth & Dodge meat wagons or hearses were fairly common in Oz in the 30s thru to 60's, some very odd coachwork was used, amongst the oddest i've seen were 2 different 1940 Dodge Hearses with the normal enclosed hearse style casket section but both had an open sedan de ville style drivers compartment.......never had a pic but these were very different.......andyd

Here's another found on the net.......1953 Chrysler by Economy.

Could be used as both funeral car and/or ambulance.

1961 Amblewagon Arlington.......

The panels with landau bows over the rear side windows were removable for ambulance use.

Airstream funeral coach, around 1980.

It had room for a casket, many flowers and 14 people. Actually it was able to replace one regular hearse and two limousines. But size and the unusual shape didn't help to sell many of these vehicles.
