Plymouthy Adams Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 After many dead ends and such I was at the point of sending an order to Restoration Specialties..still will but no in the hurry as I just got my flat head 5/16-24 screws coming in. We now have a fastener store in town..new...nice..lots of specialty stuff. Anyway..am asking what people used for antis-queak whre the fenders bolt to the body..this car did not use welting..41 Dodge..looked to be like a cloth type tape about 1 inch by just about 1/16 maybe a tad thicker...is this stuff like a tape or what? Is the FHL1116 in restoratino speciality catalog what I need...closest thing I have found.. Quote
40phil41 Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Tim, My '41 originally came with the stainless type fender welting that had a cloth type of material attached to the stainless bead that was between the fender and body. Are you sure that the stainless just didn't come off, or get removed, at some point? Phil Quote
John Mulders Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 I used inner tubes for the front fenders, cut these to follow the curves. Doesn't squeak. Fender welting, I got this with the car, basically it was a sort of imitation leather wrapped around a rope and stitched. Approx 1.5 inch of slab that would be between the fender and the body. greg g Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 I used some rubber sheet material the my body guy had in his shop. cut to size and glued to the body with weatherstrip adheseve. He got it from his Shop supplier, probably about the same thickness as inner tube material. Put about 2 inch long pieces between the bolt holes on the front fender t cowl interface. the P 15 also had some around the grill backer to fender area. Rear fenders used welting. Quote
