Bob_Koch Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 (edited) here are a few pics: This 1949 truck is in the Chrysler Museum: Here's a 1950: A 1952: Edited January 25, 2010 by Bob_Koch Quote
Merle Coggins Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Here's a pic of one that was at the Mopars in the Park show last summer. Right or wrong I painted mine the same. Quote
Reg Evans Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 I painted mine to match the truck color. It's the later model emblem and It's probably incorrect but I though red wouldn't look right and I'm stickin to it. Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Reg,you have the same engine IND 251 mine.My oil dipstick is broken. Can you do me a favor(pic)? What is the measure of it.Do you put too 4 quarts imperial=4,32 liters, when you change the oil? Quote

Reg Evans Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 (edited) Fernando, Even though it doesn't look like it in the photo my dipstick measures 15" from the lower tip to the inside of the little cup that covers the dip stick tube. 5 quarts without a filter and 6 quarts with a filter. Mine does not have a filter. Edited January 26, 2010 by Reg Evans Quote

Dodgeb4ya Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Fernando,Even though it doesn't look like it in the photo my dipstick measures 15" from the lower tip to the inside of the little cup that covers the dip stick tube. 4 quarts without a filter and 5 quarts with a filter. Mine does not have a filter. I thought these Dodge /Plym flatheads held 5 quarts in the pan alone. Bob Quote
Reg Evans Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 You are right Bob. My bad. I edited my original post. Damn Alzheimers. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 You are right Bob. My bad. I edited my original post. Damn Alzheimers. Geez, And I thought I was really loozin it---putting 5 quarts in the flathead oil pans. I think we both have "Old Timers" a tad bit Reg! Bob Quote
Young Ed Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 I just thought Reg was one of those "guys" who believe these flatheads run better a quart low. As crazy as it sounds I know people who do that. They believe these engines always leak or burn out the first quary anyways so they just leave 1 out. Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Thanks Reg for your help,but I see 15 cm ,not 15",right?My IND 251 engine doesn't have oil filter too.Since 1987 I put/change oil 4 quarts imp.=4,32 liters.I still have ERIC's e-mail(townwagon@hotmail.com) when I bought him the hood badges in april' 2003.:)Regards.
