Your head has the internal bypass head. You can tell by the little bump on the front edge of the head.

What's your engine number?

I believe your block and head should have the external by-pass because the internal was not introduced until 1950 or 1951. If your block is from a P15 the serial number on your block, just above the generator, should start with a P15. If it doesn't, it is from a different car. If you let us know, when you can, what the serial number is, members can tell you if it is originally from a P15 or a different year and/or make.

Looks to like Reg is right. External bypass. And if the block number starts with a T as you said earlier, your engine is not original to your car, and likely came out of a Dodge Truck. The number stamped on the block will tell you for sure.

The head I have for sale will not work with your block, as mine is an internal bypass type.

The first pictures I sent won't work for you. This is the original one from my '55. Send a PM if interested.

Interesting that is is configured for the D shift at 4 PM on 12/14/54, but it was installed on a 1955 model car.

Yet the on originally on my 46 has not identifying marks other than where it says heater.

Naked as a Jay bird cept for the Petty Race team easter weekend race paint.....

Reg;

I dont know how you do it. Two SpitSfire heads and both in California.

Hi Don and the rest of the forum,

Luck has it I have a SPITFIRE head and a Edmunds Dual carb manifold for the long block 25" Chrysler cars (located in the North East). The Edmunds manifold even has the DCPD stamped right on it. I have held on to these two items for a number of years (15-20) with the intention of putting them on my own vehicles. However I have decided they are available for sale at this time. If anyone is interested feel free to PM for details. I will be letting go a number of really hard to find parts including overdrives (one floor shift no solenoids, and one side shift with solenoid Borg Warners). Pictures and info available upon request. Thanks

happy motoring,

We are talking about a short block SpitSfire head on this thread. Not a Spitfire long block head. I already have a Spitfire head. But thanks for posting.

I stand corrected. I have not seen a 23" Spitfire head either. BUT the 25" Edmunds dual carb manifold with the DCPD stamped right on it is truly "rarer then hens teeth". It might be NOS which is remarkable.

I'll start paying more attention Don.

That is quite remarkable that you have such a rare mint NOS DPCD Edmunds manifold. And best thing is-- its available! Probably worth a lot of $$$ too! American Road Show Items!
