Dennis_MN Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 sorry about this but I had to gripe to someone. My winter driver is a 2000 Ford Ranger and for the last two years one of the light bulbs in the dash was burnt out. Last week I needed to drive the truck before daylight and I couldn't see how much gas was left. Had to get a flashlight out to check it out. This morning I set out to replace the lightbulb. My goodness what a job, I almost had to take the whole dash apart. 4 different size screws, and two socket heads and one torx head screw. I got the stuff apart and of course its a printed circuit board with 5 twist in holders for the buibs. I replaced all five of them while I was at it and managed to get it all back together without any missing screws. Took all of three hours including the trip to two auto supply stores for the bulbs. Just wanted to bitch a bit, because changing a bulb under the Dodge dash is a whole lot easier. Quote

dparksie Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 And there is the reason I got out of the family business of swinging a wrench. I have fun playing on Katherine (the name my daughter gave the 47). I DO NOT like to work on our taurus. I like to be able to at leat see the dang engine! And Katherine defintely requires less tools to work on. Don P Quote
48Dodger Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Feel your pain, Bro. Working on my 2006 Dodge is work. Working on my 1950 Dodge is fun. No contest. 48D Quote

John-T-53 Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 For this reason, I only drive old cars. I depend on my job-rated truck every day! I had an '85 Eldorado for a while, and it was cool, but even for what most considered to be an old car, it was a tough son of a gun to work on! Quote
pflaming Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 Have an acquaintance who drives a OLD car. He has ample money, asked him why an old car? Reply: I rent when I go out of town. Drive the latest, what tickles my fancy for the trip, then return to my dependable jalopy, low taxes, low insurance, easy upkeep. Quote
