JerseyHarold
I'm coordinating a project at work and found out that we need small, odd size screws to complete it. I was going to go to Grainger, but found out about this company: www.fastenal.com This is a retail chain with over 2000 locations plus online ordering. The catalog is over 2" thick. They seem to have a lot of unusual hardware items so it might be worth a look if you're chasing something out of the ordinary. For example, they list a number of varieties of drive nails, which are used to attach the cowl weatherstrip on our Mopars. There is a location only a few miles out of the way of my regular commute, so I stopped in today and they're getting me what we need for Monday. TodFitch
Thanks for the lead. I just looked their local stores and there is one not too far from where I work. Actually, its right around the corner from the the business of a fellow I know from the local antique car scene. Good excuse to go over there and kick some tires during lunch some day. Plymouthy Adams
I visited the fastenal store when it first opened in our area..it has since moved to another location and I am not so sure they will stay open long..the prices are quite high and the foot traffic is low..unless they have commercial accounts that are bulk ordered/supplied...the businees seems very light...the other store on my route home from work is better...I popped in there and got a 12 high collar 5/16 lock washer bagged tax and all for 1.00..they will sell you one item to however many you need...excellent place.. JerseyHarold
They probably do get a large part of their business from commercial accounts. One of the people I spoke to told me she is an outside saleswoman for the store.
Captain Neon
Fastenal services largely commercial accounts. Their business model is such that they will sell retail, but it is just a storefront for their larger commercial business and as a convenience to their commercial customers. Fastenal was originally a Minnesota-based company if it is still not based there.
Don Coatney
I have used Fastenall for years. This photo was taken 4-5 years ago.
